It's the factor which isolates albums that can be considered for the Best Fifty Ever Pressed, is the way the tracks fit. It's why Tarkus and Abbey Road were so impressive, and the Five Bridges.
My solution when loading an mp3 player is to use mp3wrap to simulate the album concept - mostly to tie an entire CD into its original shape. My listening experience is therefore CD-based and not track-based. It's essential on classical albums, it's preferable on folk, rock, what you will. How can anyone listen to Tubular Bells in a dissociated form?
I have an entire file of the Wurzels. I can clear rooms with it.
The only place for random play is in a car. I don't have a car.
Great rant, I enjoyed that.
