Or is it a little sick that dept stores use Memorial Day for their big sales. I realize most people arent working so they take advantage-and so do the consumers

I bet if it was called Soldiers Fallen In Action Day they wouldnt be so cavaleir..ier...whatever

Is it just me ?

Commercialism at it's worse. Just another ka-ching day for them, and the stores are crowded. I only went down to Home Depot for a blade shaperner for the lawn mower, the place was packed at 9 in the mroning!

Is it just me ?

I don't think you are alone on this one, Nomad. There is far too much emphasis on commercialism, and not enough time put aside for things that really matter.

We have the same things going on here in the UK. This is a holiday in the UK today, and all the major retail outlets are open.

I kept well out of the way.

I agreee, Nomad. Anything for the money. It should be a day of respect. But, what about Labor Day..a day to recognize the working people...so what do the stores do, the OPEN and make thier workers work.

Now, I know we have some necissary 24/7/365 operations here..Hospitals, nursing homes, police etc. But Let us stop the commercialism
