OK, so I've been a bit morbid lately...you'll forgive me I hope, considering all the things you guys know are coming to head in my life right now. The trial starts one week from today, and I've been thinking about "worst case scenarios." Which leads me to thinking of dying myself. You'd have to be there, in my brain, to make the connections, but I'm just curious....are you afraid of death?

I'm not. I don't want to suffer or live a life hooked up to machines, and I think of how it will affect my son when it does eventually happen, but the actual dying? It doesn't really bother me. I have a morbid curiosity about it, actually. I believe I will see my granny again, and my great-grandpa Morrise, (who is one of the family members I get my Native blood from) and my great-grandpa Lyle, and Uncle Rollin. I believe I will get a lot of questions answered when it happens.

So, what about you?

Dying as such is not scary for me, but the 'lead up' is a concern....being sick, in pain, a burden on others etc.

I'm not sure I believe I'll 'meet' up with anyone after my death...I've yet to be convinced on that.

I don't want to leave my kids and grand kids (& possibly great grand kids) ...the thought of leaving them behind sadens me.

I love being alive. I wouldnt want to leave my sons.. not see their faces anymore. And like all of you.. I fear suffering. But other than that , I have gotten quite calm about the prospect of death. Thinging about death, generally is an indication of depression. It is for me anyway.

Death itself doesn't scare me, but I too am afraid of suffering, etc. I hope I live long enough to see my children grow up and what they become. I'd like to live long enough for my grandchildren to remember me and how much I loved them.

I don't even really like talking about death ..give's me the shiver's:yh_sick i don't believe in any after life bull**** once your dead your dead end of . I think what i'm most scared of is being found dead, if i died at home i don't want the police traipsing in and out of my house poking there nose's in my business and post mortem's (autopsy) that sort of stuff, i've watched a real life post and what ever they say about being respectful of the dead,,, i don't care it's NOT NICE,, and as for being a burden, the sprog's already told me she'd put me in a home ..thank's kid. Also i would hate to die before the old man because i'm incredibly selfish and i would come back and haunt him for ever more if he met someone else ,, i know i'm selfish but i don't care that's me .:yh_shame

I am afraid of my husband dying, and have lived with this for a long time. We go to the specialist today, and I am quite afraid of what he may say. So think of us with nice thoughts and prayers this afternoon.

Well...

Even though Pants doesn't believe in the after life or reincarnation I do. So I don't really fear death at all... it is just another station on the wheel.

Now.. the idea of lingering on some kind of life support system does scare me. The last thing I want is to suffer thru a long painful death. I am not scared of the pain it will cause me.. but more the pain that others will be put thru while I linger. That is not fair to them..

So.. a living will... DNR order... etc are all in place to prevent that..

Then .. a return, and another adventure will begin..

"Death is the ultimate trip"and one i'm not afraid to take anymore,we're all heading there ,some sooner than others, some have time to prepare for it,and with excellent drugs available, suffering can be managable,its inevitable and something we should'nt be ashamed or afraid to talk about.I like to think each day should be lived as richly as possible and" dont let the sun go down on your wrath"as we may not get a chance to put it right ,we never know when it'll be a last encounter,and living with regret is eternal suffering.

I'm not afraid of dying. It will be like it was before I was born.

If I ever find myself in a situation where death is inevitable and imminent, I have already decided to have a really good laugh. I have always wanted my last words to be haha

Thinking of you now chonsi....please let us know what the specialist said...hope it's better news :-4

I am not really afraid of death. But I am like everyone else, I do not want machines keeping me alive. I have a living will and a DNR. My husband, at first balked at this, but after the Terri Schaivo case, he changed his tune a bit.

I am not entirely sure if I believe in an afterlife, but it would be neat if there was. I would like to be able to see some folks who have gone before.:-3

The whole process of dying doesn't scare me. What scares or saddens me is what I'll be missing if I should go tomorrow or sometime in the next 20 years.

I'm not afraid of dying, just don't want to suffer to long. What will be will be I guess. My father bless him sat down and died at 58 years old. He was is poor health for several years. Retired and was doing great, one day he sat in his favorite chair on the Patio leaned his head on his hand and died that simple. Our neighbor saw him sitting there and called out "Andy what you doing napping in the middle of the day". Something struck her as odd she came over and found him dead sitting there as peaceful as can be. :-1 He was young, to young but he died a peaceful death in his home on the patio.. That took the fear out of dying for me.
