Here we are allowed to recycle lots of things on trash pick-up day. Glass bottles, metal cans, newspaper, magazines, cardboard..and they have just recently added pizza boxes to the list of acceptable cardboard. Most plastic containers too..but you have to look on the bottom for the appropriate code number..if they have been made from recycled materials, guess you cannot recycle them again. Course, it doesn't stop folks from putting it in the bin anyway.

I'll reply tomorrow when I'm wide awake.

95 % of what comes into our house is recycled or reused.

Take care,

Gordon.

Here's some stuff from an earlier thread might be interesting:

I am pretty firm about it. We have "single stream" recycling so

they make it pretty easy on us. Also a separate "yard waste"

container and everything in that gets made into mulch by the

city.

Yes, we try and do as much as we can.

The local council collect cardboard/paper/clean clothing every other week and on alternative weeks they collect plastics.

We take all glass to the tip and put it in the recycling skip and also take garden waste there.

The local supermarkets have containers for books; shoes & clothing and we use those when necessary.

We also take our own used carrier bags to the supermarket for our weekly shop to save using new ones each week.

I do wish that manufacturers would not use so much unnecessary packaging on goods, that's what annoys me the most!:-5

Hubby and I recycle everything we can.

When I see the amount of empty wine bottles that leave my home, I get a little worried . . .

I do. I get so many catalogs I have to do something with them or the landfill would be full!

At work we take our shredded paper to the local Humane Society and they use it for animal beds and litter pans.

Nice to know all that secret stuff isn't going to waste!!

I've started a separate thread to explore the Refuse / Reuse / Recycle theme.

I hope that I haven't offended anyone.

There have been great ideas here that I shall also follow up.

Take care,

Gordon.
