If you have any sense you will stop reading this thread. There is nothing but disappointment and disaster awaiting if you join this discussion. The stories about to be discussed are treacherous and lead to nothing but horror and dismay.

The research of Lemony Snicket in his chronicles of the Unfortunate Events surrounding the lives of the Baudelaires should have been locked in a vault so no one would ever encounter the strange and distressing tales of such wretched villians and such tragedy as these poor orphans endure. It is with great trepidition, a word which here means "despite the knots of fear that twist my innards", that I must inform you of the nearing release of what will prove to be The End of this demented series. If you have any desire to see these three children reunited with a happy family and going to sleep in warm cozy beds with fluffy bunnies cuddled next to them then you should avoid this book at all costs.

It is with grief that I see you have dared to ask. If you had chosen to run away screaming your life may have continued in its pleasant way but instead you have opened your eyes to the tragic tales of ...

A Series of Unfortunate Events.

You already asked me that one :) Yes I have heard of them. Not my particular interest in reading material, so I have not read them.

An example of the author's wit:

A man of my acquaintance once wrote a poem called "The Road Less Traveled," describing a journey he took through the woods along a path most travelers never used. The poet found that the road less traveled was peaceful but quite lonely, and he was probably a bit nervous as he went along, because if anything happened on the road less traveled, the other travelers would be on the road more frequently traveled and so couldn't hear him as he cried for help. Sure enough, that poet is now dead.

Keep in mind this is a children's book series. :)

I have thus far avoided reading The End.

Tonight I shall have visions of sugar plums dancing in my head because I had the good sense to not read the fate of these poor children.

(anyone feel like mailing me a book :p )
