My SIL got sent stateside without any requisition. He heard for 18 hours that he was being sent home for discharge because my daughter is mentally ill. Now it seems that the Chaplain (thanks people), the commaders and his troop think this is wrong. It looks like he won't be discharged but it is still an iffy thing. He was supposed to be sent for dischaarge as soon as he checked in stateside. This did not happen. It looks good for him so I am holding my breath and doing my non-religious prayer for them.

Well, it sounds like a positive thing, anyway, let's sure hope it works

out that way.



Is he actually HOME home or just at a base in the States?

Sorry to hear about your daughter nvv. I hope he makes it back to be with her.

He arrived home last night. My daughter got 4 hours notice. I was packed up and on a plane so fast from Iraq he could not call her earlier than 4 hours.

I just want him to remain in the military...........they are trying to drum him OUT!!!!!!!!

Part of being active duty military is being required to deploy. Single parents must make arrangements for their children should they be deployed. If your SIL wants to stay in the military then he needs to find someone who can look after his wife while he is deployed.

The U.S. Military is a FIGHTING force. When you sign the paperwork to join it is explained to you that the military will provide you with all of your needs for the term of your enlistment and if there should be a need - YOU will deploy. That is the job. If you can't do the job - then you don't need to be part of the military. Just like any other job.

I am sorry that your daughter is unwell and I wish them both the best.

You are SOOO correct and I really agree with you. I have felt much guilt because I didn't have money to go and support my daughter. I always told my SIL - he made a contract with the Army .........he must fullfill that contract.

Do you know what the military provides for future employment? It is an incredible opportunity for drop - outs. Dang the drop out rate foer HS is 48%.

Well now.........My SIL is being redeployed to Iraq to finish his tour. He is leaving in 6 days. I told my daughter she must let him do his job......she must let him do his JOB........she told me she is ready to let him go back. Thank goodness or he would be discharged. This man has people protecting his back as he has to protect them...............My kid is doing a great diservice to this country if she makes him feel guilty..........It is his job.

I am glad he is going back to finish his tour. I will keep him in my prayers.

If he is active duty - then your daughter should be able to find some wonderful resources on base to help her with the difficulties of having a spouse deployed.

I highly recommend some serious drugs. I was on anti-depressants, anti-anxiety meds and sleeping pills there for a while.
