Pittsburgh Steelers QB crashed into a sedan and has been taken to the

hospital. He apparently was conscious.

Early reports say Rothlisberger was not wearing a helmet. (No

helmet law in that state)

Details are sketchy at this point. I did hear something about

Rothlisberger not allowed to ride a motorcycle under his NFL

contract, but that was during the season.

More if I hear it.

He's in surgery now. His injuries are serious, but non-life threatening.

Thats terrible.

Whats almost as sad, is that I can see the "Smack Talk" forum on the cincinnati Bengals website making this out to be a "ha"" you got what you deserve" because of Pittsburgh being the reason Palmer is hurt so bad. Its sad from both sides.

Broken jaw, broken left sinus cavity, 9 inch long cut to the back of the

head, severe injuries to his knees (!!) from where they hit the pavement.

Plastic surgeons have been called in, and his ability to play the

upcoming season might be doubtful for at least a while.

This site has a slideshow with pics of the bike:

His cousin is laying tile for a friend of mine. He went to see Ben last night. He said his injuries are not as serious as the press is saying, although most of the injuries were to his face. He thinks his cousin will be playing this season for sure.

WPXI-TV reported that Roethlisberger did not have a valid motorcycle license at the time of his accident on Monday and that he did not have a motorcycle learner's permit. WTAE-TV said his motorcycle learner's permit is expired. According to The Associated Press, Roethlisberger's temporary permit expired in March.

Motorcycle operators in Pennsylvania can only ride legally without a helmet if they have two years of riding experience or if they have completed an approved motorcycle safety course.
Did he think the laws didn't apply to him?
