I wasn't sure I'd get in, but I did. It was hard as hell having that glass separating us, but just to gaze at his face gave me all kinds of strength. We are only allowed 30 minutes once a week, so everyone knows that if they plan on going, they better check with me first, as I don't intend on missing a single visit.
For those of you interested in writing to him, PM me and I will send you the instructions on how to do that.

Is that 30 minutes between *everyone*?
How is he bearing up?

We can have a bunch of people go up together, but once he's had his 30 minutes, that's it for the week. Freakin barbarians.
He is doing quite well. He's getting to that p!ssed-off point which is so much easier to see than the tears. He got a bit teray-eyed when he first saw me, but then we got down to business about how to get him the hell out of there. It has eased my mind immensely to have seen him and know how to write him now. Yesterday I knew nothing. Today I have info. I also got to take a few layers of skin off the medical staff. Bullet has had 2 back surgeries and a neck surgery and is on all kinds of medication, none of which he has received yet. I got on medical's ass like white on rice and made sure they understood that if they didn't get him what he needed, the next trip down wouldn't be as pleasant and I'd be bringing my lawyer to help me kick asses.

Repressive certainly - how do they justify it? You'll be saying they censor his mail next!

Damn'd right you should - withholding medication must be so left field that they'd be jumped on immediately.
A daily letter from home would be a big boost I would have thought.
How are you doing finding a lawyer for the appeal?

They do censor his mail. Everything he gets will be opened, read and approved or disapproved. They will black out things that they deem unacceptable.

If they keep his meds from him and I find out he's in pain, I will raise the biggest stink anyone has ever seen.
My mother, bless her heart is going absolutely ape-sh!t researching appeals and appeal attoneys. Nothing can be done till the sentencing, though.

Given it's a one shot action then you absolutely have to - every possible avenue and cause for dispute.
but then, you already know that a damned sight better than I do so all I can add is best wishes and the best of luck.

I'm hanging all kinds of hope on this appeal. Maybe more than I should, but I have to hang on to something.
Seeing him has put me in a totally different frame of mind. Knowing how to write to him has eased my mind so much, it's amazing. I feel stronger today, and I think I'll be functioning properly soon. Thanks, Pink, my biker sister.

BR, sometime words fail me, so I am borrowing someone elses, to give you some support:
I Wish For You...
Comfort on difficult days,
Smiles when sadness intrudes,
Rainbows to follow the clouds,
Laughter to kiss your lips,
Sunsets to warm your heart,
Gentle hugs when spirits sag,
Friendships to brighten your being,
Beauty for your eyes to see,
Confidence for when you doubt,
Faith so that you can believe,
Courage to know yourself,
Patience to accept the truth,
And love to complete your life.
..
..
..
..
..
And if you can't have all that...
Then I wish you enough chocolate
to make it through the tough times....

Marie, that's a great poem. The ending is especially astute. I have loaded up on chocolate, but can't bring myself to eat any of it yet. Kind of like...Bullet's getting garbage for food, I feel guilty indulging in something like that.
I do love the senitment, though!! :yh_bigsmi

Not in county, you can't bring him anything. But he can buy stuff from his commissary. I have to go dump some money into that tomorrow.

It's good you got to see Bullet today BR, like you said it did you a world of good.
June 22 can't get here fast enough for you I'm sure. Then that's when the appeals battle can begin in full force. In the mean time, be sure to "try" to take care of yourself BR, as you have to be the sole bread winner now, as well as the appeals champion, mother, & wife. You've got a heavy burden to pull, but you being you, you can/will do it!;)

Cars. I feel so much better today after seeing him. Almost better than I think I should. I'm still not taking calls, unless they're from the kids, but I am ready to go back to work, which will be Friday.
Oh, by the way....the sentencing date got pushed back to the 28th.

Thank you, thank you, thank you. Just knowing people are thinking of him will help him through these dreary days.
And don't worry about the typing, I typed my first one, too, since I'm still so shakey my writing is illegible!!!

Hey BR,
Last I heard you were going to trial, but now Bullet's in jail? What happened? How can they jail him for self-defence? This is mad! I must have missed a thread somewhere & will go look for it.
Meanwhile, if you pm me his address i'll happily send him a card/ jokes/ file .... whatever he needs. I was going to say I'd send him some english sweets to eat or swap for something better, but then saw that we couldn't send him anything.
Can I send you some money to give him or can I give it to you for petrol to visit him? What can we do to help?
Big hugs to you both, you'll get through this, just hang on and kick @$$!!
Give 'em hell and get him what he needs!

Scrat wrote: To date I haven't commented on this much because of my cynicism when it comes to the legal system. The answer to your question basically comes down to the fact that in America guilt and innocence are largely irrelevant.
It's the size of your bank account that makes the difference.

While normally I'd agree with that, Scrat, and I share your cynicism about our *snort* "justice" system, we spent a huge chunk of money on our lawyer. He was very, VERY good, I still can't fault him for anything he did in that courtroom. The problem is going to come when we have to retain an appeal lawyer and possibly get the money together for his bond that we hope they give him until the appeal process begins.

I've been thinking about where the errors might be in the loss of Bullet's case. You are lucky they omitted evidence or technical things that can bring about an appeal. If the lawyer was good and the case looked like you would win then, logically, the problem was with the jury selection. There is a lawyer who specializes in jury selection only. He is priced for the rich now. That aside, you would do extremely well to look for a lawyer that has good jury selecting abilities. At least someone who recognises the importance of having studied the matter. If the original arguments were phrased well then a lawyer with a keen sense of jury selection could fall back on the original transcript with the expansion of the missing factors.
Make sense?

You want to hear something funny? Bullet is a line supervisor for GM. He has 50 or so employees he is responsible for. He runs any and every line in that plant.
And I make more money than he does. Yes, I will be able to afford living here alone. I just hope it's not for long......
