Our lawyer, Steve has found an appeal attorney for us, by the name of Robert Morgan. He is a viper in the courtroom, from what I've been told. He could cost us as much as $10,000.
If a bond is granted for Bullet's freedom while the appeal process is going on, we will probably have to come up with another $20,000. That would be 10% of the standard bond rate.
If the jdge grants the appeal, and we can't come up with the money, he will sit in that hell-hole county jail until the appeal.
I need help. How do I come up with this kind of money?? I can go beg to my boss, but God only knows what she'll say.
What do I do??? I have to get him out of there. I'd sell a kidney to make this happen.
Someone please tell me how to raise this kind of cash......

You give the court a big chunk of money to assure that you will return. When the case is over, that money is returned to you. It's assurance for the court that you will re-appear, and not run.

BR, just off the top of the head. Since Bullet may not get to ride his bike for the near future, would you consider selling it? He can always get a new one "when" he gets out!:-2

That is a distinct possibility, cars. But we'd probably only get about 3 grand for it. Not enough to make it worthwhile, unless I just can't find the cash anywhere.

Oh, that's a given, Sheryl. The boss is already planning it and getting word out to all the clubs in the area. They could raise quite a bit of cash for him.

flopstock wrote: Ask the lawyer about setting up a trust account at a bank or something similar for folks to send funds to. This much money involved, you want it set up so you don't get whacked for taxes after the fact, if possible. Plus you'd have a specific place for funds to flow to instead of a bunch, trying to keep track...maybe even neteller or paypal could do something quick and cheap..but i think they take a piece of each transaction.
and of course you would then post the info so that we can share it with friends and local clubs, eh? Give us any info on events at his club and contact information.. websites, etc... someone you know and trust.
I'm putting the thinking cap on, sweetie..don't be alarmed if you see smoke rising....
Be sure to set up the legal basis of the trust so that the Brothers can be repaid the amount lent towards the bond when it is redeemed
And yes, if we can make any donations (small though they be there's a few of us) then PayPal away (the cost of an IMO is probably prohibative).

I think someone said a family can put up their equity in their house if they are willing to and you could pay them back.:-2 What about GM where Bullet works does he have a 401K he can borrow on?? No rich relatives on either side you could beg from just to get him out on that bond would allow him to work and pay what you borrowed dow. Just think outside the box a bit..
What ever happened to Lawyers doing "Pro Bono" work..??

I was thinking about that last night, BR. I used to make about $200 a day washing windows in the Summer, but that's not even close to what you need. Did Bullet have a retirement fund where he worked?
If so you could cash that out, after all that's for a rainy day and it sure is raining!:-2
