What is Reality?

Have you ever had a hallucination? Doesn't matter if it was drug induced or not.
I had one once. Non drug induced. I was sitting in my brother's truck. I didn't know how to drive. We were parked on a steep incline and he got out of the truck to get something from a friend's house. I suddenly got scared that the truck would roll. As soon as I had that thought the truck started to roll backwards down the hill. I dove for the ground. My stomach felt the movement of the truck as it picked up speed. Trying to remember which was the break, I paused then dove for the big pedal. Everything stopped. I sat up and found myself exactly where I started. We hadn't moved, even though I'd watch the house slipping away from me as the truck rolled.
So what is reality?

I really thought I had a hallucination when I was 22 years old. I thought I had seen my cat come to me when I was out of town. The cat told me to wake up and get the ******* out of there - I did. The cat must have been my familiar.......an animal that cares. It was a dream - the dream was good.

If you saw the cat and everything reacted properly around it ie) grass bending around it's feet, or weight of it as it stepped on you, then that's what I mean.
btw, did the cat talk with it's mouth or telepathically?

Just meaning the hallucination was complete. It matched what you would expect from reality if it was really happening.

I have yet to have a hallucination, but I am drinking Seagrams 7 and 7, so I will let you know here in about an hour if I do.
Im aiming more towards no, but who knows, I may have a psychotic episode. My next plan is to get behind the wheel and see what my new baby can do. I also would like to drive the new truck I have purchased. :wah:

Epistemology in Philsophy is the study of how we know what we know. And - with the exception of tautological knowledge (eg 2 + 2 = 4 is going to be true always, because it's a definition) we know everything we know through our five senses. All of our senses can be demonstrably tricked. So does Forum Garden really exist? Is it real??? Or is it, (and are the whole lot of you) just a figment of my feverish imagination, my own personal construct, and will vanish as soon as I log out. I might have an opinion about this. But how to PROVE it???

Twice in my life I've hallucinated, both time from high fevers. They were definately hallucinations and not reality but seemed extremely real at the time. The first time, I was a small child and saw witches dancing behind my bedroom door. The second time was recently. I saw Casper's uncle slide in a shirt that was hanging. The seeming reality at the time has always stuck with me, but they were definately hallucinations.:wah:

You know, Ive always had thoughts of other living things being nothing more than a figment of my imagination, while at the same time testing my "good will" in direct correlation with god. But you know what? I would rather love thy neighbor than to think for one second that people as righteous as any of you were to be less important than I.

I'm not righteous K, and as with regard to my neighbours. There's a big beefy bloke on one side who rides a bike and tinkers loudly with it at all hours. And a gorgeous gal aged about 17 on the other. Feel free to love either. Though hey, I probably imagined them. :sneaky:
