Though you would never catch me trying to attempt that rodeo, far too scared for that hahaha. If you are able to go, please take some pics and stories would love to see what it looks like up close!!

I wanna' be a Cowboy...
..and you can be my Cowgirl...
Riding on the range,
I've got my hat - on,
I've got my boots - dusty.
I've got my saddle
On my horse.
He's called....T-t-t-t-t-trigger
Of course.

If you are new to it yes, it's a lot of fun packed into 10 days. If ever anyone wanted a reason to come west, this would be a good one.

Something tells me that you're being a tad euphemistic when you say 'interesting folks'.

OH I am shocked ahahahaha
I am the very local local, the one you see that isn't dressed up, avoids the festivities unless I have out of town guests and carries on with her normal dull routine. I avoid the bars and crowds completely. Remember I have had over 40 years of stampede unless I can show it off to others, it's not a big to do anymore for me.

Ok first friday of July every year like clock work the stampede starts, anyone wishing to attend please come up the first thursday of the month cause I would drag you all out to the parade for the proper kick off to the stampede, please also note, you will be forced to attend one of the 2 rockin-est cowboy bars in the city, and be forced to stay till closing. You will also be taken out to a few of the morning stampede breakfasts, the midway, rodeo, chuckwagon races (best part of it all) and fireworks. Dress accordingly, history has it, it never rains on the parade, by day 4 we have torential rain and hail for a day then back to scorching temps. Wear proper footware as cowboy boots are stupid for being on your feet all that time.
Book your rooms early as they go fast. I only have 2 beds to spare.
Bring $$$$

Noting that on my calander, hmm maybe next year I can go. And don't worry I don't have any full cowboy boots, my ankles are to skinny and I can't ever find a pair that fit me correctly. Just boot clogs. :wah:
How soon do you take reservations on those rooms. :p
Ok seriously, hope you do go out atleast one night during the Stampede and kick up your heels, Minks.

Cowboy/cowgirl/stampede updates
Our midway attendance broke a record yesterday with 10,000 more than yr 2000 whoo hooo
this morning we started our day with a stampede breakfast, these are free breakfasts that big corporations put on all over the city throughtout the 10 days. Todays was pancakes, sausages, scrambled eggs, muffins, and danish, coffe, OJ, OJ wish champers. And a country band in the back ground. Not so bad, oh and a free bolo tie. This was put on by our building mgmt company. Nice start to the day. All held outside.

Sounds like fun, minks. I always thought I'd like to go to the Stampede. I'm fixin' to go to Wyoming tomorrow. Maybe I can start a stampede of my own. They still drive herds of cows (oops my city-slicker showing) cattle down the highway and they have a cowboy on a bucking bronco on their license plates.:yh_cowboy
I won't have access to a computer though, so I'll miss you guys.
