Someone knock me out...PLEASE!!

This is getting ridiculous. It's going on 6 in the morning, I've just worked a full shift at the bar, I slept for about 3 hours the night before, and I am STILL NOT TIRED!!!! I know it's partly nerves, being wound tighter than a violin string, and other factors, but I CAN'T SLEEP!!!!
It's making me friggin' crazy, and I'm becoming useless at work. I tried the tranquilizers Bullet had after his surgery, and the first one knocked me out for about 14 hours, so I cut the next one into thirds, and felt like the inside of a dead cow's ass for 2 days after. I've tried Tylenol PM's and my body kind of snickers and says, "Is that the BEST you've got???" I've tried over the counter sleep aids....nada, zip...NOTHING. I even tried smoking weed for the first time in about 9 years, and all I got was the munchies. I am going slowly insane. Anyone have any natural, (except weed) home-remedies for getting to sleep? I'll be a walking zombie in a couple weeks if this continues.....

Where does one even get smoke anymore ? I went to an Allman Bros concert and everyone had it but I would have no clue where to go anymore. Was it good ? What were you like ? Did you get skitterish, you know a little freaked or paranoid ? Were you giggling ? Did you watch any cartoons ?
You have to change your patterns, your habits. Dont log on when you come home. Take a shower and go to bed. Dont sleep in, get your rest then get up, dont lay in bed. You need a schedule. If you do that you will force a new habit, a healthier one upon yourself.

Where?? Holy cow, I can't walk 10 feet in my bar without running into 6 people who have stuff for sale. Fortunately, I bring them their beers, so I didn't even have to spend any money!
It was "good" in the sense that it did what it is intended to do, but it didn't make me sleepy!!
I was like me, only quieter. Calmer. No, I didn't freak out or get paranoid, goof, I was sitting home, alone in my house. No giggling, and no cartoon watching, either. I guess I'm kind of a boring high-on, huh? :yh_blush

Even before all this other *crap* I have never, in 16 years of bartending, been able to come home from work and go right to bed. I have to unwind a bit, enjoy some QUIET for a while, and relax. People who work normal daytime hours don't come home and go right to bed, now, do they Nomsie? I do get what you're saying, but it's the actual falling asleep part. I went to bed night before last at the perfectly acceptable hour of 2 a.m. Much earlier than is normal for me. I lay there, tossing, until 6:45 or so. I'm so damn FRUSTRATED. I still don't feel even slightly sleepy, although my body is exhausted, and it's now 8:17 a.m. :-5 :-5 :-5

I also like the "inside of a dead cow's ass" comment
What about talking with your MD? I know I take lorazepam (Ativan) or the muscle relaxer cyclobenzaprine (Flexeril) and they really help me sleep.
Can you take two Tylenol PMs or is that bad for you?

The MD idea would be wonderful if I hadn't lost my insurance when Bullet lost his job.
I did take 2 Tylenol. Nada. :-5

Some of these won't apply to you and/or you'll have to change the times
but here'e my primer on the subject:
http://www.forumgarden.com/forums/showp ... ostcount=4
I don't have the kind where I can't get to sleep, just the kind where I
wake up in the middle of the night and can't get back.
Try the Valerian, it's about the nastiest smelling stuff you'll ever find,
but it does help a little. The kind I buy says you can take 9 capsules a
day, so I do that and about a gram of calcium.

Yes we do, and at this point, I am willing to try anything that isn't immoral or dangerous. (I almost said "immoral or dangerous or illegal", but I guess I already did the illegal part, didn't I?)

BR that insurance thing sucks
I've been there, done that too
I bet if you went into a health foodnatural food store and asked questions, you'd get some good suggestions
Would you try that?

Oh I just thought of something. Try Melatonin. Its a "natural" sleep aid. Its something your body already produces. I tried it several yrs ago and I remember it working very well.

BR, years ago melatonin was touted as 'resetting' your body clock when you travel to different time zones. I think it was big in the 90s.
Isn't is nice how all your friends are here to help you? :p
I love it here :-6

Melatonin had some quality control problems a while back if I remember
correctly. And/or some liver function questions? Don't recall.
I thought of something on my walk (do some of my best thinking then!)
maybe you are trying to go to bed too soon after getting home. Think
of it this way, people who work 9 to 5 come home and don't go to bed
until 10 or 11 that night. So, say 5 hours, that means you shouldn't
try going to sleep until 7 a.m.! Don't know what the heck to tell you to
DO with those hours in the middle of the night though. Vacuuming would
probably annoy your neighbors!!
:p

melantonin, and valarium are natural sleep inducers but.... I think if you have tried the synthetic stuff with no luck they may not be strong enough, as well don't try either if you are on other meds, first consult a Dr.
Meditation or yoga, me thinks your brain needs to rest. I feel for ya, it sounds so familliar from way back in the ugly divorce days for me.
I was told by my Dr, she would lend me one of her medical books to read at nights perhaps some boring book would work for you BR. I wish I had a solution for ya, I know I an an on and off again sleeping pill user but can't take them regularly or I become an addict.

HA!! I wish....I just couldn't look at the fuzzy, blurry screen on my computer any more, and went to read, hoping that would knock me out. Just when I thought I might be getting sleepy, Bullet called. 10:30 this morning, and we had 3 consecutive calls, so of course, I was wired after that. He gave me a few things that needed doing, so I took care of that and couldn't go to sleep because I knew he'd be calling again at around 2:30. Which he did, and we got 3 consecutive calls in again, for a total of 45 minutes each time. Nope, no sleep for this kid. I'll be going to work in 1/2 an hour here having been up for 28 hours. I guess I'll be sleeping good tonight after work!!! :yh_pray :yh_pray

Nothing to worry about there, Carla, I walk to work. And yes, I'm still awake. It's 3:03 a.m. on Sunday, and I have been up since 1:00 or so Friday afternoon. This is seriously messed up. I still don't feel sleepy.
