I've been gone so long I didn't even know they were gone! I always liked LC, didn't know BTS that much but never had any probs. Shame the way these things go, but I guess there were reasons, not that I have a clue what they were. Does that mean bothwell is gone as well, oh well.

Yes Galbally Bothwell is gone as well. I talk to LC often so I can say Bothwell is well and soon to be in the UNITED STATES and Living with LC. :-4

Clancy you make me cry thinking about LC and all the great times we had when she was here...:-1

Both BTS and LC are bold personalities and I liken there arguments to the conflict in the middle east, neverending and without a resolution..:-5

I'd like to retract what I said earlier - anyone who calls one of my friends a C**T is not going to get a good reception from me. More like an Arse kicking.
It's not one of my favorite words but he was called a lot of names also. He was pushed and pushed back.

He got as good as he gave. LC was no better or worse, when it came to heated debate.

Personally, I'd like to see 'em both back, but be prepared for more, um, excitement.

Remember if you allow one perviously banned member back, you have to allow them all back, so those of you who were happy to see someone get banned think twice about what it would be like if they returned. I speak of everyone in general no specifics.

Why ? If this were my forum (and it is) I could do as I saw fit on an individual basis. LC yes....Chives yes (every forum needs a Chives) Moverguy no.

Done !

Good point, and I would hope with the re-instatement of past banned members you (if you owned the forum) take into consideration the folks who do not want to see certain members back. Again understand I am not taking sides or saying who I think should and should not come back ok. Every banned person had friends and enemies I would hope both would be allowed the freedom to express their opinions. A petition to bring back someone is a nice idea, but perhaps an annonymous poll would be better this would allow everyone the chance to vote. Does that sound right without sounding mean.? I mean there is always 2 sides to every story and maybe not all FG members know both sides of why a banning took place, I would like to think Admin made a fair and accurate call on each and every member they banned.

I just think we should be prepared for some "chatter" if we start bringing members back. Both good and bad.

By all means make it an anonymous poll, minks. We could have a set of anonymous polls for proposed returns from exile and a set of anonymous polls for proposed bans, to be balanced.

Now you need to decide what proportion of votes would get someone banned or unbanned. 50% for either? 66%?

The tradition in london clubs was that nobody got in if they were blackballed by any existing member, and nobody left by any method except death or resignation. Or any two members. It empowered the membership, you see.

Whatever it takes to ban someone should be what it takes to get someone returned.

We could even have an anonymous poll to test what the proportion for banning and unbanning should be set at.

over 90% voting in favour

over 80% voting in favour

over 70% voting in favour

over 60% voting in favour

over 50% voting in favour

over 40% voting in favour

over 30% voting in favour

over 20% voting in favour

over 10% voting in favour

and count from the bottom til you get a majority agreement.

I'm sure the correct answer is to leave the mechanism in the hands of Admin, myself - a totally autocratic and unobservable process, like death.

The Tar Pit is always visible to public gaze, every new post is up on the index like any other thread to read.

I think it should not do that, but really be invisible.

A Chives gives us something to ponder

An anomaly, a riddle, a puzzlement, a chance to debate the higher aspects of life, such as what is real what is not ?

A chives provides us with an opportunity to explore the surreal, the amazing and the preposterous and irrational wonderment that is his mind.

It gives us a chance to play sleuth and go slithering about in search of the real truth.

So many possibilities, so little time.

I have had to physically restrain myself from posting in this thread, until now. Sat on my hands, as it were. I think Tombstone's response here has given us the answer we were asking for: It is up to him, and him only who comes back, if anyone, and he is not about to discuss it with us. People are acting like this is a democracy, when it's not. All the polls, anonymous or otherwise, will not change that fact. Like has been stated before, admin does not ban lightly here, and I would find it highly surprising if they would go back on such a tough decision and re-open the doors of FG to the members they had previously shown those doors.

If BTS & LC were really serious about returning to the Garden, they could always PM Admin. Saying they have learned their lesson that breaking the Gardens rules continuosly, got them banned. And if reinstated in the Garden, they now promised (again) to mend their ways. If BTS & LC are able to convince Admin they are absolutely serious this time, maybe Admin will put it out to the Garden as an accept/rejectpoll. (anonoymous of course)
