Things I learned while camping..

This weekend was a new experience for me, I love going to the mountains and exploring but usually just rented a cabin. This weekend I camped. I also learned a few things.
1. When you sleep in a tent during a rainstorm, you learn what it must be like to be inside a popcorn bag in the microwave. All you could hear was a pop pop pop noise.
2. I do not have the patience to be a fisherman. I could not cast my line more that 20 feet. I was only successful at reeling moss fish(wads of moss). However the game warden that came around checking licenses was pretty hot.
3. My son can actually sit still for more than 10 minutes. You've just got to give him a fishing pole and his tractor book. I tried talking to him while we were fishing, but he told me to be quiet or I'd scare the fish off.
4. I can sit very still. The last night there my sister and I were sitting outside reading our books by flashlight. Suddenly she told me to sit still because a skunk had just walked up to the foot of my chair. I did sit very still, even though I was freaking out at the possibility of getting sprayed on the inside. The idea of a tomato juice bath was not very appealing.
I had a great time overall, and hopefully will be heading back up there this next weekend.

Isn't it interesting that you can still learn more about yourself? :-6
Sounds like a delightful weekend! Will you do it again?

Skunk's ...... I've alway's wanted to know just how badly they do actually smell, not that I want to get to know one intimately, :wah:
Is it a smell comparable to anything else?
( I might wish I hadn't asked that question!) .....

I would imagine if you multiplied my smelly socks by a factor of 10 then you may be getting near.... In fact. I bet the skunk would leave first...:wah:

Let's just say their smell is really really really bad. But what's funny though is the skunk that came up to my chair I couldn't smell.

Do you not now think it possible your sister invented the skunk?
It sounds a great weekend, I bet it gets mentioned for years as he grows up.

I'm not sure if it was really a skunk or maybe a raccoon. When we first arrived the camp host warned us that there was a sick skunk on the premises. And later that night my dad did have to run a skunk off that was eating the birdseed my dad forgot to put up.

There is nothing more foul than the smell of skunk. Smelly socks combined with rotten potatoes and stinky monkey cage smell from the zoo and you may be close. The smell can waft for miles and it remains incredibly strong as the wind carries it. Tis such a distinctive smell, that often times when with a group of people camping, hiway travelling or sitting outside on your deck it wafts by and all faces wrinkle up and only one word is uttered in unison..."Skunk" .... we all know it well. Trust me it is a smell you smell once and never forget, and you pray you never **** off a skunk.

Girls should stay behind to tend to the site and clean the fish, then cook them then clean up after. Ok ?

You never quite know if you're going to come home the same person after camping with me;)
I can just imagine you gathering all your ingredients out in the forest.

The park was under extreme fire danger, so open fires and charcol cookers were banned. So we had to use the gas grill.
