Baby Lewis is now 9 months old and was Christened on 23rd July. I'm sorry that the photos are not good quality. The Vicar (the same one that married Amy and Mark) is a fantastic lady and everyone was included in the event. 2 other little ones were baptised at the same time.

After the baptism itself, there was a ceremony that involved candles. The large candle in the photo is the Easter Candle and has special significance...but I forget just what it was....eternal flame or something similar...any way....each baptised child had a smaller version that was lit and held by a god parent. After the service it was placed in a special commemorative box. The lad putting out the large candle with a huge 'snuffer' is Lewis's half brother...he's 9 and called Kai.

Lovely photos, Bez. The Paschal candle is lit at the first Eucharist of Easter, the "light of Christ" symbolising resurrection. Baptisms were once traditionally performed round this time. And the little candles are to show that the child (or adult) has been baptised into this Christian resurrection.

That's exactly how it was Pam....there was so much going on that I didn't take every word in and it was hard to hear from the congregation. I've never seen this happen before at a baptism....it was very touching and I find lit candles very 'spiritual' anyway. .....thank you :-4
