Lets talk about new computers

We have reached a point where, before the end of the year, we want to completly get rid of Rick's computer, and replace mine. We are now deciding between a PC and a laptop.
I should add that we would keep the one I use now as a back up.
Here are Rick's thoughts. We would get a PC, with a wireless keyboard (if such a creature exists) and then set the tower up between our two chairs. There is room on the floor. If we needed to do any printing, there will still be my computer. Then, instead of a monitor, we would wire it to our projector, and project the images on the wall. It is a small projector, which is now set up on a small table between our chairs.
Second thought..a laptop. With a mouse we can attach to it, as I, personally, do not like that touch pad thing. Who here has a laptop? How are they for memory, compaired to a PC? We may put one or two games on it, but it would primarily be for internet use, and storing some files. I figure I could install my printer to it, and then just attach it to my printer if I needed to print. But the thing is, my printer does take alot of memory, as it is one of those multi task ones....fax, print, copy, scan.
Any general feedback on pros and cons of either of these thoughts?
