can't believe it was ten years ago, she would be a young woman now, the same age as my eldest girl. I hope it wasn't her dad...horrible to think of her mum believing him to be innocent and living with him for all those years after

The article on CNN says they have confirmed nothing but will be holding a press conference later today.

Who would have thought when this case first happened, it'd take 10 years to solve? I am anxious to see if John Ramsey has any kind of connection with the "person" who confessed. Such a sad story.

Apparently the man is a 41 year old American second grade school
teacher, being investigated for another sex crime when information
came out about the Ramsey case...

A source close to the family said the Ramseys had
been told about a month before Patsy
Ramsey died that there was a suspect in the case.

There is unidentified DNA from the child's fingernails that is in a data base. This teacher is being compared.
He's a teacher, how scary is that!

I am watching the national news on NBC right now. In the piece they said that before Patsy died, she knew that they had a suspect and that they were waiting for enough evidence to arrest him.

Yes, June.
Unfortunately, there is a local angle. The county
I live in has an outstanding arrest warrant for this
guy for child pornography.
In an interview, Marc Klaas said he thinks the guy
is just trying to avoid Thai jail, that too many
things point to the parents being involved.
John Mark Karr's ex- wife said (She didn't agree to on
camera interview, said she was too embarassed) that
they were living in Alabama at the time of the murder
and she was with him the entire Christmas season...

I'll, say it, I thought the parents were involved, if it proves not to be the case, I will say my prayers and ask for forgivness, and swear never to NEVER watch the news again, who's with me.
I'm being facetious, those parents never had a chance. And being cynical you never know.
The whole country had these people guilty, myself included, if it turns out to be wrong, I will feel very bad for that family. But that won't change a thing about the media, and mass perception.

Just to clairfy myself, I did think that it was an inside job. It's a bizzare case all the way around. I hape the new evidence will prove all that wrong. And the media, oh my, what I couldn't say about them!!!
I am crossing my fingers for that family that they can get it behind them, Really I do.
I just can't help but think about all of the other children that have been murdered or have gone missing that don't make headlines. They have mothers and fathers, sisters and brothers, family, friends, lives taken.
It's a tradgedy this beautiful little girl, but there are children that starve right here under our noses, we don't hear about it.
Ok, made my point. I'll get off my soap box.

LC and I were chatting about this and as only LC could put it "She smells a rat"

I will let you know what she say as the info comes out.

The ransom letter is a sticking point in her mind due to the personal nature of the letter..

Yes they have Floppy and what a nightmare it has been. Read the news this morning it is very apparent that they have their man, and a very sick man indeed stating that he loved Jonbenet and was in love with her and still is.
Now maybe we can get some answers to 10 years of questions about this tragedy, why, why, why,??? I want to know mainly what his connection to the Ramsey's was. :-1

Ditto from me, Snoozie.
I am somewhat comforted by the knowledge that Patsy Ramsey *knew* they had a suspect before she died. But I'm sad for all the parents went through in the past ten years.
Question yourself: Did YOU think one of them was guilty?
Can you imagine a whole country of people believing this about you? For ten years?

I for one never thought Jonbenet's parent had anything to do with it at all. I did think it was a member of the family though not the son but some other member. I want details ..:-1 sick, sick, man.

Maybe someone can help me out. I read a headline that said the suspect's ex-wiffe offered up an alibi for him. But for some reason I was unable to open the article. Anyone else read this?
I mean, if he already allegedly confessed, how can he have an alibi??

Good. I remember that being reported years ago, and being fairly horrified by
both a) the fact that she'd been killed, and b) what this child had been made
into during her brief lifetime.

I have to just adopt a "wait and see" attitude.
Flopster, I think the wife wasn't being specific, just that they spent
that Christmas season in Alabama. Whether it will come to light that
there was a day in there that she wasn't actually with him, who knows.
This guy has outstanding warrants in my county for FIVE child porn
charges. They confiscated his computer (I believe this was 2001) and
the head of the school district fired him. He's a sicko in any case. His
wife divorced him right after. I heard one report that they had three kids,
and that the ex-wife and kids still live here in Sonoma County.
It might have been Ann Rule who said it, I'm not sure... but in almost
EVERY murder case there are some facts that don't fit. Since the
murderers never tell what the explanation is for a misfit fact... we never
know.
I do find it interesting that this case would take the police all the way
to Thailand for an arrest, that if they've been watching this guy for
a few months that they wouldn't have done it while he was here, or
when he came back. Unless they, too, thought he'd get stuck in a
Thai jail.

I do not know about the attention seeking part...I mean if that was the case, why wait 10 years to confess...and then only after he was in custody for something else.
Plus, he knew facts that were not publicly known, plus his DNA matched some that was on Jonbenet.

We don't know yet that the DNA matches, that is just speculation still.
Likely it does, but we haven't been shown that in court.
If you read my earlier post, Marc Klaas thinks this guy just doesn't want
to be put in a Thai jail, and that's why he's doing the "attention seeking".
Squeal like mad if you think you're finally going to get caught. If he hadn't
gone over there, and hadn't done something else, I still don't think we
would have heard YET.

Anyone who would do that to a child is definatly not all there. Wasn't his Thai arrest for sexual abuse? We do have an extradition treaty with them, don't we?

They'd want to... but even if there isn't a treaty can you imagine authorities
there denying the US in a case like this? I would think "professional courtesy"
would come into play...
If he's supposed to be brought back later this week or this weekend,
then I think they probably already have it worked out who "gets" him!

Guess there could be an our case beats your case argument. Murder is bigger than assault. Or else, they could try him, then send him here for the murder trial.
It will be interesting to see how this plays out.
