The worst job I ever had was a P/T "second" contractor's job, to earn extra needed money.

All the P/T contractor workers had to gather in the lobby of this company behind "locked doors" between 5:25 & 5:35pm, if you were late then you missed working for that day. As prompty at 5:35pm two of the company's "regular" employees escorted us (one in the front & one in the back, like prisoners) to a large room with only one doorway in. There were many workerbee desks in the room, where we all worked that faced to the front of the room. There was one "supervisor" desk by the only door way. We had to work for 5 hours, with "one" 5 minute break after 2-1/2 hours, (agian we all were escorted to the canteen, that was next to the restroom) to do what ever you had to do. When working in the room, there was no talking allowed between the workerbees. If ever we said anything to each other the supervisor was right there, saying what's the problem. No talking! Then we all were escorted back to the lobby at quiting time. (The pay rate was good so we all put up with this misery) Well I lasted at that job for almost three months, just long enough to pay off my outstanding debts at that time. :-5

WHAT'S THE WORST JOB YOU EVER HAD?

The worst job I ever had was a factory job during my latter years of high school. I worked the night shift during Summer at a local factory riveting small metal bands. The job was incredibly boring and incredibly repetitive, and the riveting machine had no safety guards on it (they were removed to accomodate larger bands). In fact, one gentleman who worked there (before my time...I learned about it from other employees) had an accident with that very machine - riveting his thumb to a metal band (*shudder*). Occasionally, my wrists would become very sore. I feel that if I had continued to work there for any serious length of time, I would have developed carpal tunnel or a similar syndrome.

Anyways, while certainly not the worst job out there, it did have its low points.

I had a temporary job at Social Services in Toronto for one day. They took me to a tiny, windowless room with a multiline phone on a table and a chair. I was not told how the phone system was set up just "press this button and you will answer the next call." There was always another caller. The phone never actually rang, I just kept pressing the button and getting someone else. My instructions after answering the caller was to get a "worker number" and press the corresponding buttons to transfer. If they didn't have a worker number I was to give them another phone number to call...All day.

This got really bad when I found out the other number was giving them my number. Needless to say I had some pretty irrate needy people on the other end of the phone and no way to help them. :(

All jobs have their moments. Try doing body makeup on an obnoxious man in a thong. :wah:

sometimes i think my current one is the worst! ... on what other job do your 'clients' want to spit at you, fight you, 'kick your butt', or are your 'clients' drunk, drugged-out, crazy, or stink to high heaven, homicidal, felony-stupid, armed? :-5 ......but then there are the decent people who appreciate you that make it worthwhile ..... :)
