I live in a village not far from Milano.

The weather is nice but cold for being in september: I largely prefer warm than cold.

(I am so rusty that I was doubtfull on the word "warm": for a second I was thinking to write "worm", that is not exactly what I meant...)

I like reading, gardening, drawing (this one when I was younger, so many years ago..)

In this moment I'm at my job: so I have few time to reply.

I mean, when I make mistakes in writing or explaining when I don't understand the sense of the words..

I do not speak or write in English from a number of years: when I started, I use to

work in the italian subsidiary of an american company, so I learnt quite a comprehensive english - american, because I have to get in touch daily with my overseas colleagues.

I remember when at the beginning I had to call in Boston: when the call ended, my heart was running like a Ferrari, because I was afraid to say nonsense or not to understand or not to make me understood...

Now I work in an Italian company, less than few contacts abroad.

I try to see movies in original language, but anyway so many phrases are missed, because I don't know the meaning of the "way of saying"

Piacere di conoscerla (hope I said that right). I lived in La Maddelana, Sardinia for three years but that was 20 years ago and I have forgotten more Italiano than I ever knew but I will never forget my wonderful experiences in your beautiful country. I hope we will see you often in the Garden. A presto, ciao!

Paola ... Milano - the fashion capital of the world. WOW!!! Or is that Sydney, Australia? Yes, of course it is, but Milano comes a close second. Grin. I've never yet managed to see the city, but did, in May do some walking in the Cinque Terre region of Liguria. Not that far away. I have two children now living in London and they joined me for a stay in Greve, in Toscana too. Their first time not only in Italy, but in any non-English speaking country. They were both totally bowled over, loved the country, loved the people, loved the lifestyle, the food, everything. Both are now learning Italian. Grin. I speak Italian reasonably well, and it looks like there may be a few bi lingual conversations happening in the Forum Garden in future. GREAT !!!

I have a daughter and a son.

My son went on January - with my brother - to New York.

For my son, it was the very first time on an airplane and - of course - to NY.

When he came back, he was felt in love with this city.

He adores the big size of the cars, (he says that my car may be recovered in their baggage car) pancakes, maple syrup, hot dogs, the streets...and a lot of other things..

Hi Paola. Or, as Red Glitter asks, would you prefer us to call you Accadue? 'Born and bred' means born and grew up.. somewhere. It doesn't necessarily mean you are still living there.

I found the Cinque Terre villages really pretty. A little crowded in places, though I was there really early in the season. I stayed in Levanto and caught the train to the start point of each walk. Swam in the sea. Rode some boats. Climbed a lot of hills. Tasted the local sweet wine and ate a lot of wonderful seafood. I had a little trouble understanding the regional dialect.. grin. The local people were very hospitable and friendly.

I took one of my daughters to New York. She fell in love with the city too and hopes to work there one day. She works at present in MTV in London and the head office is in NYC.

Paola is my name, so pls call me so..

I made the same when I was in 5terre fo summer holydays..and yes, food is good, wine too - we bought honey, wine, olive oil, "pesto" (do you know? for spaghetti)..

My husband and me were in Monterosso, very very nice and we visited all the villages around and Portovenere - the boat driver was a little drunk (is it correct?)

so some passengers were sick..

Years ago, I met a young man coming from Australia (he used to work for the same company I worked, but located in Australia)

I remember that he said: In Australia there are more rabbits than people...

My brother - who travels a lot - went to Australia some years ago and he loves so much those days..

Sarei molto felice di scrivere anche in italiano - (I would be very happy to write in italian, too...)

Where accidenti do you caught those monstrous turkeys I saw in tv movies ?

Are they really turkeys? Or - perhaps - ostrich ?

And how is it stuffed ? It needs a whole container of stuff ...., I suppose...

My apologies for calling you Paolo earlier. I was in the U.S. Navy and our ship was stationed at Santo Stefano. Most of us lived in either La Maddalena or Palau, both were beautiful. I am anxious to return some day. For those of you interested, this is where the Navy forced me to live for 3 yrs. It was tough duty but somebody had to do it.

I have a far relative .. far because he is the husband of the daughter...oh, ok, it is too much difficult to explain.. anyway, he was a naval officier at La Maddalena, too, some years ago. May be you have met him, who knows?

G'day Paola - I liked Monterosso and also Portovenere. Got to try my first sciacchetrà (? spelling) in Monterosso. I got lost from the group I was with on my way to Portovenere but joined up with a German group which was fun. Arrived in the end. I swam amongst meduse at S Fruttuoso and then got a boat back to Camogli. Very nice village.

My daughter works in MTV. She explains to me regularly what she does, well kind of, but it's high tech and a bit over my head. She called at 7am my time this morning to tell me she'd just got a promotion. I am so pleased for her. My son works in CNBC at night and makes films (to change the world) during the day.. grin. What it is to be 23!!

More rabbits than people. That could be true. I don't know. Rabbits were introduced to Australia (so were foxes) for the first wave of settler hunters and, without natural predators, bred themselves to plague proportions. A bit like the introduction of deer into New Zealand.

Since mxyomatosis, the rabbit population has declined. But I have no idea of numbers. Australia has a relatively small human population. The country is the same size as the USA, but much of it is uninhabitable. Most of the population is in the East Coast main cities.

Better to write in English in the open forum, so everyone can understand you. Grin.

When we were in 5 terre, we met - a night, in a restaurant - a married couple (abt 50-60 years old) coming from Australia.

Unfortunately, we spoke few words and I do not remember where exactly they came from.
