Sorry your tomato parade got rained on.

I'm sure you know this but as a reminder:

Tomatoes like it hot. Plant them too early and they sulk, refusing to grow until they’re good and ready. Young plants, whether purchased in cell packs at the nurseries or grown indoors from seed, will develop more quickly if you wait until temperatures reach about 21ºC before planting them into the garden.

I like plum toms or baby toms on the vine with loads of salt and pepper and balsamic vinegar on and a little crumbled feta or cheshire crumbly cheese:p

It's easy to do that with packets of seeds... I always end up with thousands drying up on the vine at the end of the season... then I end up with tomato "weeds" all over, the next year. :wah:

Sounds delicious... 'cept for the salt... too much salt tends to make me nauseous. :p

You could even put that on a toast or some bread... :)

have you tried them in containers?

I plant them every summer in containers, if there is to much rain, I move them onto the deck for protection.

just make sure they are plastic, with holes in the bottom and facing the sun all day, water 2-3 times a day as containers dry out quite fast.

I also add tomato fertilizer 3x during the course of the summer.

My kingdom for a home grown tomato right now. :yh_drool Most of what we get here now are the ones grown somewhere else and ripen in the truck they are getting delivered in. More like baseballs than tomatoes. :(
