Wow, wonder if he still works out? When I was doing companion care for seniors, I worked with a 93 year old man, who still took 2 - 3 mile walks almost every day. Sad thing was, we went out for a couple of walks,a nd I could not keep up!!:-3

I bet exercise is a regular part of his daily life. but it ain't a part of mine :p

The intensity of the aerobic exercise you do is important. Walking moderately briskly to the point you which makes you somewhat breathless will reduce your blood pressure by up to 10% whereas simply walking at your own pace, will reduce blood pressure by only 4%.

However walking outdoors is better for you than simply using a gym as you will also be getting vitamin d from exposure to sunshine.

But it's also the best way of ensuring you stay out of a nursing care home.

Low serum concentrations of 25-hydroxyvitamin D in older persons and the risk of nursing home admission
