Grill or Smoker?

I'm thinking about buying either a smoker or a grill this weekend.
Not sure which to get.
Anyone have a smoker that can comment? Do you get enough use out of it or is it a pain to have to cook things so long as opposed to just throwing it on the grill?
Also, is using damp wood chips in a pan on a grill just as good as getting a smoker?

I have had both for many years now and find that I use my grill much more frequently. I have a cast iron box that I can place damp wood chips in and put that on the the grill and it does a fine job of giving that smokey flavor to whatever I am cooking. The smoker is nice for when you have the time but I am often in a hurry so the grill is used more.

I've had both and also prefer the grill. You'll use it more often.

I have both - the smoker is more trouble - time wise. I agree a grill will have the same results. If I get my way - my smoker will be sold at a garage sale.
Get a grill. Trust us.
