I've just watched a program about tank man the guy who was the bravest man I've ever heard of he stood in the path of a line of tanks in china and stopped them it was about the massacre when some 2500 Chinese were murdered in the square(OK i cant spell it )

it was a very disturbing programme to say the least



but there was a couple of things that are still going on now that really troubled me namely yahoo,sisko and i think it was micro soft are actually helping the Chinese secret police catch dissidents if some one sends an email to a western newspaper about how bad it really is in china ,these companies inform the government and one guy has just got ten years because of it , i really find this unacceptable and now will close my yahoo account in protest



can any one else add anything to this i just caught the last few minutes of the programme

As I recall they managed to get the Tank man out of Tiannaman Square but he was arrested later and is still in jail.

There was a big stink recently, complete with a congressional hearing, about Yahoo, Google et al aiding and abetting the Chinese Government's attempt to censor the Chinese people's access to the internet by blocking any anti-Chinese (as defined by the Chinese Government) informating from coming into the country. In return they were granted the right to provide internet services to the largest untapped market in the world.

i find the whole episode totally unbelievable how American companies can sell their souls to an oppressive regime and actually help snuff out freedom and democracy is beyond imagine 50 odd years ago if the Nazi's were looking for Anne franks and yahoo or Google turned her in ,for thats whats happening now in china ,there must be a brain box on this forum who knows more about china it said on the programme last night these construction workers have to work a year in advance before they get any wages and its not uncommon for them to be sacked with nothing 11 and a half months into it ,china is operating a system said to be much worse than apartheid in south Africa where the workers who build the cities are not allowed to stay there ,young girls are forced to leave the countryside where there is no work and go to the cities where they are worked literally till they collapse from exhaustion some times 18 hours a day 7 days a week 20 to a room in squalid conditions and send all their wages back home where the people have absolutely nothing at all ,there where video footage of armed gangs just shooting and stabbing farmers to take the farm land off of them for western companies to build factorys

the whole thing has really upset me and anyone who watched the programme could not fail to be moved in a similar way

There was a programme on recently showing how some extremely poor families, living in the countryside, would sell their daughter into prostitution because they couldn't afford to feed her. :-1

how desperate must these poor people be to have to sell their own children into this horrible way of life , i cant put into words how much this is affecting me , honestly those poor farmers being stabbed shot hacked to death just trying to protect their land so they could feed their families i cant believe on this site full of caring wonderfull people i am the only one who feels like this :-1

i wish there was some thing i could do maybe i can write or call my MP



who might just get his nose out of the trough long enough to actually do some thing

honestly how can any one that thinks they are a decent human being sleep soundly in their beds while things like this are going on in the world guys if we dont try to do some thing who the hell will
