I think I'm a great dad. Anyone can be a father, but not a great dad.

Two days ago while driving on a busy road I stopped in the middle and picked up a box turtle that was trying to cross. I took him to the woods by our house. I got a got a mixed reaction from the people behind me. Most people behind me laughed or smiled when they saw what I was doing but one guy flipped me off. :wah:

Really? That's such a pity..... I think if someone is worth sleeping with they're defo worth keeping as a friend. I have a friend now that I dated for a short while and he/she (keeps you guessing!) is fantastic!

I'm a sucker for the elderly (not in a bad way....) In fact I helped a woman in Italy recently, and she said "may you be blessed in your old age" which I thought was a lovely thing to say!
I once took an elderly lady who was outside a closed pharmacy (worried about getting her sister's medication) to another one, the other side of town, and then back home again after. It took some persuading to get her to get into my car, but bless her, she tried to give me money for petrol! I nearly cried when she kept saying thank you.
My BF says he realised he loved me when we were on a train to London and I spent an hour listening intently to an old boy who wanted to talk (at) someone about the war and the changes he'd seen.
I have so much respect for the elderly, and love my mum so much, that I think if I help elderly people that I don't know - then someone else might do the same for my mum if she needed it......

I understand, SuperSilly
I'm glad you are so close with your Mum. I was very close to mine as well.
Even though she is not with me anymore, she most truly lives on in my heart.

Maybe that is why I am a sucker for strays? I want to help people and I want to make people smile and laugh. I have my really down days when I am ill or going through treatment but all I want to do is make people happy. Maybe that is wrong but I don't care. :-4
If I can make someone laugh or smile then I laugh and smile.
I'm with you on this one Wendy! My mum and I fell out 2 years ago. I've sent her cards which she ignores and I've told her good stuff about her grandchildren - my son was made headboy of his year last year and I was proud of him - but she doesn't want to know! She enjoys telling everyone she knows what a bitch I am and so they all ignore us.
Like you I prefer to make people smile or laugh. Its tough because sometimes you need your mum, but at least I know I'd never treat my daughter that way. And it's lovely to see families who are close and know its possible.
Whew. Too much info. Time to crack a joke!
