I just read where Mercedes-Benz came out with a new model, SL65 AMG that has a "604" horsepower 738 pound-feet of torque, twin-turbocharged engine!!! This rocket goes from 0 to 60mph in "3.8" seconds!!! With posted "speed limits" on all roads, it seems like a terrible waste. It's like using a "Race-Horse" to pull a wagon!!! (EPA 12 mpg)
Oh yah, did I mention it costs $186,870. Really expensive toy!! :wah:

so Cars, can i catch it with a crown vic police package unit? or how about our state troopers? they drive camaros.

we had a guy last year doing about 160 on a japanese bike, had to follow him with our helicopter until he dumped it and distributed his 'brains' all over A1A.

That sounds like an awesome car. Yeah, a waste of machinery and horsepower unless on a track.
The price tag, however, sure doesn't make it very appealing.

I’ve been looking for something for my wife to drive to work. I’m afraid the 12mpg would bust the budget though. Probably uses that expensive premium gas too.

LC, From what I could see from the small picture of the cockpit in this beast, the speedometer went up to "220"!!! A little over weighted for the Crown Vic & or Camero. Would definetly be a "helicopter" chase! Like Carla said, I also would sure like to take this rocket for a test ride and put it through it's paces!!!
(of course when you were off duty, don't want to get a ticket)

Can't the same be said for all cars though, if the max speed limit in Britain is 70 mph on a m-way are'nt ALL cars built to break the law??
My b/friend works for Mercedes-Benz & is privaleged to get a new one every 3 months, and i've always found it obcene that he drives a car that costs more than the price of the average house where i live!! :driving:

That's exactally my point, any car even with only 100 hp can easily exceed the posted speed limits, so "604" hp is absurd! But with all that hp under the hood (bonnet in Britain) the temptation not to press the pedal to the metal would be uncontrollable for most of us mortals!
