Heard this discussion on the morning show on the radio the other day. Somehow the conversation got onto Vegemite (not sure why) and the fact that if you are not used to it, it does not taste all that great.

They then switched to talking about foods, or food combinations folks ate that made others kind of wince.

I have a couple. My husband cannot understand why I actually cook and eat the giblets from chicken or turkey. I even cut up the Turkey giblets into my stuffing. This totally grosses him out.

Another thing he turns his nose up at is a Polish thing called kieska (sp. AKA..Blood sausage. I think it is made from beef parts. My mom used to fry it up in a frying pan..and if that was not enough to make your arteries harden, she would cut up bacon into pieces and cook that into it also.

Sometimes my brother and I would just cut a slice of it and eat it raw.

I cant stand beets. I never eat sweets, havent had a piece of candy, pie or cake in over 20 yrs. :-6

i like coleslaw and bake beans all mixed together.

It doesn't matter what Jim has for dinner he has to have tomato sauce on everything be it curry, a roast, cereal (not really), don't get me wrong i do like sauce but not on everything!!!!! Jim and i went away for a weekend and went for something to eat, he went to order a kangeroo burger i nearly threw up there and then, he quickly changed his mind

Oh I misread the question. I like fried Spam with Swiss cheese on top smotherd in fried onions and jalapenos. Then dipped in Hot mustard.:-4

SNAP, i love that with a jacket potatoe. My friends think it's really strange that i like mayo with a cooked breakfast

Gosh, I eat rice cakes so much, probably everyone says yuch to that.

I like tofu and ALL veggies...:-6

I eat very little meat anyway but I couldn't eat the wilder stuff like deer, moose, rabbit, etc. :yh_sick

my husband loves black puddings...it's a type of blood sausage in Ireland. Ick.

Suz, boy do we have a lot in common we went to Jamacia a few years back and he had the local goat curry and ackee and swordfish and he still put ketchup on it - sacrilege:yh_sigh

I like to dip french fries in Louisiana Hot Sauce instead of ketchup! Yum!

crisp and banana sandwiches.

The crisps do have to be walkers ready salted though

"Curry goat". It's a luxury. Often tarted up for "trade".

I'd probably have to say... the only thing that grosses most people out... my favorite, liver & onions!! My mom & I were the only ones in the family who'd eat it. She'd always make it for my birthday meal. Don't know who'll make it for me, now that she's gone! Guess I'll have to experiment!

I like mustard on my BLT sandwich instead of Mayo...that usually makes a waitress make a face...even my family..but hey..it's good to me!!!

Liver and onion casserole is a noble dish. Add a bit of fried bacon, too.

Use pigs or ox liver, not too thick, remove any tubes.

Serve with mashed potatoes, carrots, and peas or runners Maybe broad beans.

Now you've done it. I'm hungry.

i'd pretty much eat anything though

Nuttin honey, everything I eat is good.

Fry baked beans in a dab of butter with thyme and paprika, stir in an egg, remove from the heat and serve with salad cream swirled in at the last minute. With a side plate of bread and butter. Low calorie, low cholesterol, practically health food.

One of the most nutritious and quickest meals is to bring a tin of baked beans to the boil, and then smash in an egg, stirring continuously. The white of the egg cooks automatically in the tomato sauce, as does the yolk. It's ready when it looks like scrambled eggs gone wrong. It doesn't fill you up immediately, but a couple of hours later, you can go all day without feeling hungry. Healthy too - no oil , and you only use a sausepan. Try it.

Grits. Love 'em. But I'm about as far north of the Mason/Dixon line as you can get and still be in the US, so nobody here likes them.



Love sushi, unless it has raw fish in it. Bleck. But there's lots of sushi that doesn't.

I used to turn up my nose at sushi till I actually tried it a couple of years ago. Now I eat it often. Rick still won't try it..even the veggie sushi with no fish in it.

I don't eat gross food but I do have a favorite sandwich.

White bread, American cheese, mayonnaise, hot sauce and onion slices!

I don't why people do not like grits because they are very much like polenta (with the exception that polenta is ground finer than grits) - both are corn products.

My favorite version of grits is garlic cheese grits with a pepper edge.

Besides growing up in an Italian family who often ate polenta I lived in Atlanta for 14 years and had some great cooks as roommates (who were from Alabama). Grits is like any other food if left plain: its boring. Think of eating broiled Talapia - it has no taste. Or Tofu, another food product no one knows how to properly cook - it just needs to be marinaded. Aslo, what about vodka? I prefer it mixed with something because in shot form it is not all that exciting. Actually vodka mixed with cranberry juice and a lime works for me.

I like apples with peanut butter, but have never tried it with pesto. :-2
