I've never like Limbaugh at all. Most of his remarks are tasteless, inconsiderate, and uncalled for.

Who is Rush Limbagh, I hear a lot of you talking about him? Is he a radio guy or something? Sounds like he is just trying to say controversial and cruel things for notoriety and hence rating. Given that, slagging off people because of a very serious illness is in very poor taste, even if they are involved in politics, I can't remember anyone in Britain slagging David Blunkett (ex home secretary) for looking for sympathy by being inconviently blind, he did get well roasted for being a bad minister and having a kinda sordid love life, just like any other politician.

I do understand why people are reticent about stem cell research, and they have some very valid points that can't be glossed over, but as a science type person I would have to say that balancing it all up, stem cell research could lead to some really wonderful cures for horrible diseases affecting children and adults, and that as long as it is very tighly controlled in a reponsible, respectful manner the good outweighs the real quams people have about it. Thats my opinion anyway.

Yeah, but are you still mad at me? I still miss you!

The actor's visible symptoms and poignant message in the 30-second spots apparently aroused the ire of the conservative radio host, leading him to speculate that Fox either "didn't take his medication, or he's acting."

I have heard that MJF said in his book that he stops taking his medicine when speaking before committees and such in order to show the effects of the disease. I haven't read his book so I don't know if that's true but perhaps this explains the reference. Regardless, it was a stupid and insensitive thing for Limbaugh to say. I don't blame MFJ one bit for showing the full extent of his disease.

However, I do find it distateful that a politician would allow an such a provocative ad to be aired days before an election when it is full of half-truths and misleading statement. That McCaskill would use his disease to dishonestly "pull at the heartstrings" of voters in order to smear her opponent is relevant. And I wish MJF had made sure his facts were correct before making the ad.

I think he's one of the most loathesome men in this country.

Sounds like just another grumpy old misanthrope, we make those kinda guys walk round in parks and shout at children round here, its a better use of their talents. Now that you have forgiven me, any chance we can sing a duet? I've already embarressed myself.

Rush is a putz.

Michael J Fox was using his condition in an emotional ploy to gain gov't funding for research toward curing him (Fox).

I don't recall the wording, but Fox clearly misrepresented the gov't stand on stem cell research:

Federal funds do support stem cell research, just not embryonic stem cell research.

Embryonic stem cell research is not banned. It is not illegal. It is simply not funded by tax dollars.Rush is a putz.

Rush L. stated MJF exaggerated his condition - acting.? I don't think so..

I didn't care for Rush to immitate MJF.

Rush never really apologized for that insensative comment. my mistake..

But, Rush L. is bringing more attention to MJF's condition - now this is a National ad, and is getting powerful attention..

Accountable, add that it is not funded by federal tax dollars. States can fund ESC research if they wish. This isn't the first political ad to distort the position of an opponent but usually politicians don't use disabled people to sell that misinformation.

I'd much rather see rich people buy doctors to do the research they value than buy politicians to use my money to buy the doctors.

I don't think MJF was lying for Politcal reasons.

I certainly think MJF went off his meds to emphasize the degree his condition has progressed. And perhaps MJF wasn't concerned or an advocate for Stem cell research until this disease was diagnosed?? unknown??

I'm stating Rush was a fool to immitate and state MJF was acting, and this was brought more attention to this ad.

Accountable - your stating anyone can be bought. Everything comes down to money$$.

[quote=Patsy WarnickAccountable - your stating anyone can be bought. Everything comes down to money$$.Let me phrase my position more precisely (Good Lord that sounds pompous! :o sorry). People choose who to give their money to. I would rather they give their money directly toward the actual research they support, rather than trying to get gov't funding.

I did not state anyone can be bought. I definitely implied that about politicians and researchers, though.

Loud-mouthed, obnoxious conservatives should OD on pills but loud-mouthed, obnoxious liberals are hilarious? Do you really think there is a difference between Limbaugh and Franken? There was little uproar when George Clooney mocked Charlton Heston's for having Alzheimers, not to mention all the jokes at Reagan's expense when he had Alzheimers. No outrage or media coverage when Bill Maher said dogs are like retarded children. The double-standard is incredible. :lips:

Most of them - Limbaugh, Franken, O'Reilly, Matthews, Bill Maher, Dennis Miller - don't really bother me. They are just doing their thing, I don't have to agree or listen. They'll occassionally do or say something stupid but it doesn't make me rage with hatred or anything. Now, there are a few rabid mouths that seem to come unglued and unhinged and border on the psychotic. Those I don't like - Michael Savage and Keith Olberman are two that come to mind. The others I can take 'em or leave 'em. Life's too short.

Noone should mauch anyone with a disability or disease - it's that simple..

Adam - I don't see a thread for George Clooney mauching C. Heston - if there was I'd state the same.

Idiots - are they familiar with KARMA..
