I have been with it since March and I absolutely hate it. Thing is, I had to commit for a year, in order to get the special rates.
What happens if I quit? Am I brought up before a firing squad at dawn or what??
It seems to run super slow...even though I have the high speed.
Also..every few days (sometimes more often) I get a pop up that says "Your Netzero softwear has been corrupted, please reinstall. And I cannot figure out why. Happened on my PC several times...both before and after I had it cleaned out and debugged. Has happened on my laptop constantly. I have uninstalled it and reinstalled it only to get the corruptend message again in less gthan 24 hours.
None of the troubleshooting helps. I have no viruses, no worms. Even got a new copy of the instillation disc.
I am having fits here.

I am considering it. I may wait till we get one of those Earthlink disks in the mail..that offer a special rate for first 6 months. Got one a few weeks ago and discarded it.

Hi. I've been using Netzero for the past couple of years, after five previous years of being bound to Compuserve by an agreement I made with Circuit City, similar to the one you've made. After my obligation to Compuserve was up, I switched to Netzero because they were cheaper and because, judging by Compuserve's deliberately sensationalist homepage, it looked as if the company was run by a gang of ******* fascists.
Yeah, Netzero is slow, but I chalk that up more to the fact that it's a dial-up service instead of a broadband one. I can tell you that it helps a lot to keep your computer clean in order to have it run smoothly and fairly quickly. By this I mean that you should run your virus scan program, (get one if you don't have one,) and your anti-spyware program, (get one of these too,) also. Last but not least, defragment your hard drive regularly. If you perform all three of these essential, "housekeeping chores," each time the computer seems to be slowing down, you'll find that life with dial-up service is almost bearable, (facetiously.)
As for those stupid popups, just click them off and ignore them. I get that one you're talking about, too, the one that says we've got corrupted versions of Netzero, and we should reinstall. Don't pay any attention to that.

Marie :
I switched from AOL Canada (about $25.00 CDN/month, once taxes were added) to bluefrog.com, an ISP from your town (Rochester).
It 's $9.95 US/month, which is just a tick over $11.00 CDN for me, and NO TAXES !!
No bells or whistles, but it's pretty decent. Maybe a bit slower than Almost On Line, but the price is right.
When you pay for a year, they give you the whizbang turbo feature, which supposedly speeds things up considerably.
I'll probably do that in the near future.

Well, I'm back from one of my brief hiatuses from the Internet.
Netzero, (which I actually think is a pretty decent ISP,) is now offering broadband service, and I've taken out a subscription to their DSL. I just got it up and running last night, and it's now a lot more fun to use the Internet.
