Yes, they eat pesky little bugs. Oh, if only LuLu was on, she knows everything about critters. In spring I always get a box of ladybugs to put in my garden, when they have eaten the bad bugs, they fly away to somewhere else. A nice way to get rid of pests.

Usually the gardening stores have them, in little containers. You buy them by the hundred, I think. I have roses, so I always get ladybugs.

Evita likes it there, LC!:)

This is very weird, LC !!!!! In Australia the lack of ladybirds has been the subject lately of many a letter to the newspaper editor. (Okay we need to get a life!) Then a couple of weeks ago I was in the mountains here and found a grevillea absolutely coverered with the little critters. I was walking with a group at the time. We all thought it did indeed have cosmic significance. A sign of good fortune. I mentioned this to my daughter in London and she said similar sightings had just started again there - can our UK members confirm this? It's a global thing!!

Carla - I have a goddaughter here whose parents are from the highlands of Scotland. When she was about fourteen I found her one day standing silent and still on the porch of her house, literally covered in butterflies. That image will stay with me forever. Fey as they come!!!

Awesome that must have been a sight to see..:-6 We use to have butterflys migrate through San Diego on their way to Mexico every summer. The past 10 years or so I can't remember seeing many butterflys at all, I so miss them in the summer one of natures most beautiful creations.:-4

Hi Guppy!!! Carla - I remember seeing a program on PBS or whatever that translates to here in Australia about those big orange and black butterflies migrating from the South American rainforests right up to Canada, or was it the other way?? Fascinating!!!! (I guess they must go both ways, doh... blonde grin!)

What are the seasons/weather like where you are? It could be looking for

somewhere to hibernate. I was out walking two weeks ago, on a brilliantly

sunny day; there were hordes of ladybirds, of different sorts. Some of them

are pictured at:

Unfortunately, there were several Harlequin ladybirds in evidence.
