To all the lovely Americans - Do you eat sweet potatoes as a potato potion or as a vegetable & have standard potato's on the plate too?

I dident like it much when i first tried it but ive since tried a few more times & the taste is growing on me, i would tend to just have a small portion & still have mashed potato as well, also do you mash it or eat it in chunks?

Hiya BCup :)

Personally, I like to bake them with the skins on and eat them just like a regular baked potato.

Yummy :-6

If I make them, they are to replace the regular potatoe. And I usually just bake them and serve with butter, cinnamon and sugar. I've also had them fried, and that was yummy too!

We eat both at Thanksgiving in my family. Traditional Mashed Potato, and lovely baked with brown sugar, pineapple, with a topping of Marshmallows for the sticky gooie factor Sweet Potatoes.

I like them baked like a Potato as well they are one of my favorite things this time of year... Yummie..:D

I have seen people here do both...Have both sweet potatoes and white, along with a vegetable.

I , personally, do not like them, but Rick does. So sometimes I will buy just one and bake it up for him.

They're sweet enough without sugar or marshmallows. I eat 'em baked with loads of butter. In Okinawa a vendor sold them from a cart. Kids used them as handwarmers on their way to school. Makes a good tempura as well. :yh_drool

I microwave them (or bake, if time), and have them with butter and a little black

pepper.

Sorry, omission - they are OK with roast potatoes as part of a meal, or with

mashed ones.

I like the candied yams, baked and fried sweet potatoes, as well as the sweet potato casserole with the crunchy pecan topping. That's delicious!

Never had them at the same time as mashed potatoes, but I'm guessing that'd be okay.

Sorry, not American but I do like sweet potatoes, especially mashed with butter and black pepper. Like them with toad in the hole, roast potatoes and a tiny bit of mint sauce (sounds better than marshmallows - that's just weird!!):-3

I love them!

I bake them in the oven and we eat them plain. :yh_drool

I usually serve them with pork roast instead of regular potatoes. yum!

I also make oven fries with them, I just sprinkle a little salt and olive oil on them and bake. :-6
