Has anyone seen it? What did you think?

I set it up to record early this morning, so I could watch when the kids went down for a nap. So don't spoil it for me. :D

I enjoyed watching the Kneehigh production at the Bristol Old Vic last year, it was powerful stuff. http://www.kneehigh.co.uk/html/tristan_director.html gives a description of the way they approached it. I suspect it's a different production to what's being discussed, but it's the same myth-base.

What myth was this movie based off of? I like reading stories better sometimes than watching them.

The Tristan and Iseult story setting is coeval with Arthurian legend. Tristan and Iseult first appears in the twelfth century. Arthur, unless you regard the Welsh cycle references as interpolation, crops up in sixth century literature, failing which Nennius in the ninth century is a fairly solid starting point to date from.

Sheryl, do a Google and then just watch and let yourself "go" into the myth. It's fun!
