Just been watching X factor,Barry Manilow :guitarist is guesting on the show, WOWWWWWW how much has he changed.

His face looks like it has been pulled right back tight, he looks weired, the only recognisable feature is his nose which has always been his biggest asset.:lips:

Well, even if he has been "touched up" a bit, he still looks better than Kenny Rogers. :wah: :guitarist

According to public records, Barry's "60" years old! Most everyone at his age in the public's eye, has had some sort of makeover! It's "Showbusiness"! :)

From day 1 she has had no opposition. It's just a formality to go through the motions in a one-horse race. She makes the hairs on my neck stand up when she sings which is quite rare. A major talent emerging.

For gosh sake..the guy just had a hip replacement..just like a "real" old guy. Guess he won't be dancing around the Copa too much any more.

I can't remember what it was she sang a few weeks ago, but I was so moved, I was in tears.

Can I just wave my placard saying I love Ben. Thanks.

I like long hair on some men - he's cute in an unkempt way.

Barry Manilow look like a waxwork dummy these days - soo sad.

I love Leona too, she's sure to win.

3 words I never use in the same sentence.

Leona is consistently turning in performances that seasoned professionals would be happy with. You have to remind yourself that these virtually faultless performances are LIVE. The Americans are clamouring for her already and she hasn't even won yet, so strong is the interest she's generated. Out of all of these type of shows I've seen over the last few years, she has the finest talent IMO.

I don't watch X factor so I missed Barry. i have to confess i was a big fan in the 80s and saw him in concert 3 times...the best was at Blenheim Palace.

Must admit I lost interest because there wasn't much NEW stuff being recorded by him.

He was 60 back in June....good luck to him if he's had a little help with his looks.

My favourite album of his was '2am paradise cafe'....jazzy....with Mel Torme etc.

OK, let us back up a bit. I am admittedly a bit slow on the uptake this week....but what is an X-Factor? I am gathering from comments here that it is on the order of the Pop Idol / American Idol singing thing. Am I right?

Just watching the repeat as I'm ironing....Barry looks ...well...like a 60 year old I guess.

It's interesting to hear the competitors singing his songs. I liked the long haired guy....gravelly kind of voice.

Leonas on next.

It's a pity that yoou never hear some of more obscure songs.

You are right Marie. It's a variation on the Pop/American Idol theme and as you might expect, Simon Cowell is one of the main protagonists
