If I give it over to you guys, I'll quit stewing about it!!



Last week, Paul put my ski boots up for sale online. When I bought

them, (admittedly many years ago) they were top-of-the-line.

Not sure exactly what I paid for them, around $400 or a little better.

I do a little bit of research, and decide that $45 is a good price, I

only skied in them maybe 10-15 times, and they are in good condition.



Someone emails me and says she's interested. We go back and forth

on where/when to meet. She has misunderstood where I live I guess,

and she's pretty far away. I ask her if she's pretty sure she wants

them, she says yes, they're the right size, she likes the rear entry

(QUIT, you guys!!) and so I agree to meet her about 25 minutes away.

She says "Friday Saturday or Sunday" an we go back and forth over that,

I agree to several times. She asks me about 5 o'clock on Sat. and first

I was going to do it and then thought, it's too late, that's after dark

this time of year. So we settle on 4 instead.



I drive about a half hour to the meeting place, and here she comes

driving up, and there's a gruff looking guy in the car and I inwardly

groaned. I just KNEW. She gets out and is nice and we're chatty

and this guy is just a total JERK. She is saying all sorts of things like

"Oh, the toe box is great it doesn't hurt my feet" and things that make

me think she wants them, and he totally starts shooting her down at

the pass, and comes off like he's a frickin' expert in ski boots. How he

had a pair that were 15 years old and he threw them away. Putting

down perfectly good boots until she wouldn't buy them. Was aghast

that I wanted $45 dollars for them.



So I'm kicking myself for driving all the way down there for nothing.

And for not thinking of things to say... like you're the reasons the

landfills are almost full... or see that truck, nearly 218,000 on it, still

going strong. Or, how 'bout the beautiful purebred gsd in the back

who's almost FOURTEEN years old? SOMETHING to let this guy know

what a jerkwad he was being.



The fact that she brought someone with her I don't mind, that's actually

smart, but she should have gotten him involved earlier in the process

if he thought she shouldn't buy a pair of boots that OLD for that price!!

You did not ask for feedback, and I have none to give. But sometimes it IS just good to vent, Valerie. Glad you feel a bit better about it.

have had a similar experience and yes you are allowed to get royally pi**ed off at the time they wasted..

and she should have told him to back off, l mean l agree its no wonder that we are destroying the earth, we just throw things away all the time and rarely think can someone alse use it..

Im like you val if l can sell it l will if not it goes to charity and hopefully someone elae can use it..

I know postage would be high for a thing like boots val but in future you could put $15 postage, sale price $30

gets your $45 & saves a whole lot of hassle, im sure going by your good feedback reputation they would have sold & still could to someone else

In this situation I'd say you want them or not - it sounds like you were intimidated by this guy. Hey when your selling stuff - you stand firm and thats that..

I could've looked this guy straight in the eye and said take a hike.. or stick the boot up his ass.. Thats how I wheel & deal with people - I don't waste my spit..

No, I just gave up!! There's a freebie ad bit in the paper that I thought

I might try, they don't charge you if the item is under $499 LOL.
