Do my neighbours hide wine?

Every 2nd thursday around here is recycle bottles & cans day. Now most nights of the week we sit down to dinner with a bottle of wine, you can imagine thats quite a few bottles come recycling day, its a rather small box thats provided by the local authority & therefore i always have a bag with bottles in it that sits at the side of the box. In all the time since this has started ive never once seen any of my neighbours boxes with any wine (or alcohol of any kind come to think of it) at the side, you cant miss seeing them as the boxes are all on the pavement / sidewalk at our cars. So do you think i live in an alcohol free neighbourhood or my neighbours are hiding wine bottles

Its odd, dont you think? Are people ashamed? Do they take bottles to the dump seperately so no-one sees any alcohol consumption?

Surely we are not the only couple in the street who drink :-3

If you're worried about your consumption of alcohol compared to your neighbors'...perhaps it's time to think about that?

It's an old dodge.

maybe they recycle them some other way.

apparently the UK has something called "bottle banks"

they might just prefer not to display what they need to dispose of?

Well, that's what I was thinking, too. In a good way, mind you. Ancestral Scottish blood runs through my veins, as does alcohol from all over the world. (Not all at once, though).

Here in Ontario, we're starting a refundable deposit on all booze bottles come February, so I've been keeping mine in the basement until then.

I shake my head in disbelief at my neighbour's clear plastic leaf bag, full of pop cans.

Takes all kinds, I guess.

We never buy wine . I don't really like the stuff and just one glass gives me the worst hangover ever, so don't buy it . We rarely drink at all . He may have the odd can of guinness in the evening and maybe the odd glass of tramp juice(Cider)in the summer and i can honestly say ive been drunk once in about the last 7/8 years (gave it up in order to help conceive). My neighbours drink bottles of the stuff (i know because of the bottles they throw away) . Does that make us odd because we don't drink . :o

I try to limit my drinking to the weekend, but we love good wine, and I've always got a good few bottles to put in the box. I don't mind people seeing them though, as for those that know, they're lovely wines!
