Definately Dirty Dancing. Can you believe they've brought out Dirty Dancing 2? How can they even TRY and better the original? :guitarist

OMG!! No classics yet. My all time fav is The Godfather trilogy, Goodfella's, Dances with wolves. Those are my top 3, but I love several more. Anything with Adam Sandler or Jim Carrey. I wish they would make a movie together.

If it's classics you're after, how about:

BladeRunner (My all time, never get tired of watching favourite.)

Dirty Harry

Infernal Affairs (I know it was only released 18 months or so ago but it will stand the test of time, unlike the soon to be made re-make.)

The Italian Job (The original version.)

Heat

To name but a few.

Oh my God!!! I LOVED "The Hitcher"...as a suspense film it was the BEST I've ever seen! I was literally sitting on the absolute edge of the couch from the moment the movie started until it ended. I have told so many people about this film, but this is the first time I ever found anyone else who has seen it!

Pardon my emotional outburst there, I just couldn't help it.

I also liked "The Ghost and Mrs. Muir" ... the movie, not the TV series.

Speaking of Johnny Depp...Benny and Joon. From Hell. Sleepy Hollow.

And, although I didn't like the movie as a favourite, Leonardo DiCaprio in What's Eating Gilbert Grape. I thought he was actually a handicapped actor. Wow!

My favorite movies are

Fried Green Tomatoes - such a great story on friendship

Steel Magnolias - another great one on friendship

Pink Floyd's - the Wall :guitarist

For the Boys - I'm a closet Bette Midler fan :lips:

Memphis Belle - It's a great movie, and Harry Connick JR isn't to bad on the eyes either

Something to Talk About - the sister cracks me up with her wise cracks "I gotta go see a horse about a man"

Dazed and Confused - I plead the 5th

and any movie that was produced in the 80's and featured the Brat Pack

I've never heard of Pay It Forward. Who's in it? What's it about?

Another definate on my list is "Being John Malkovich". Not only a very cool, bizarre movie but I'm a big Malkovich fan ever since "Dangerous Liasons", which is also on my list.

No I've seen it. It's a great movie with a great message.

Koan, it has Haley Joel Osment (sp) and Helen Hunt. There's also a great guy actor in it too, but brainfarting on his name.

The Ghost and Mrs Muir...good choice although not the sort of film I typically like.

I think it has one of the best put downs on film when the Rex Harrison character describes George Sanders as 'a perfumed parlour snake.' :wah:

If you like that I think you would enjoy 'Lost In Translation' as well (give Solaris a chance too, the remade version with George Clooney. Its not an obvious choice, but I challenge anybody with a heart and a brain to be left unmoved by the ending.)

Romantic comedies - Jerry Maguire, While He Was Sleeping. Weepies - Titanic, Sleepless in Seattle. Thrillers - Speed (Keanu again!) Oh and anything with Johnny Depp is bound to be good! Now you've got me started...and me a married woman too! :wah: :wah: :wah:

The Star Wars films! They are so classic that they go without saying, although I wish the Ewoks had have been wiped out by the StormTroopers. I too remeber seeing them the first time around, queing around the cinema to get in.

Whilst were talking film, how about Aliens and Master and Commander?

Aliens is one of the brilliant horror films. On top of that, it is a sequel that surpasses the original in quality. Master and Commander I was pleasantly surprised by. Very good film.

I also like Gary Oldman for brilliance in character acting. Sid and Nancy. Bram Stoker's Dracula (campy but brilliant).

Howdy Jab

Thanks for remebering it for me.

I recently watched "The Missing". I know I'm slow, but am just now getting to where I can stand 'bloody" violence in movies. But anyways I thought Cate Blanchett and Tommy Lee Jones did a great job in that movie. It was funny yet serious too.

I love the old movies.

Harvey with Jimmy Stewart

Arsenic and Old Lace with Cary Grant

and of course Singing in the Rain And I never can remember the name of the movie about Harry. It stars Shirley McClain and John Fosythe. Excellent movie, if you get the chance you have just got to see it.
