My brother discovered today that Lord of the Rings author, J.R.R.Tolkien used to live in his house in Moseley, Birmingham. I already knew that he had lived in another house just round the corner and close to the birthplace of Galbally at some point, but this was a surprise. There is a local monument with 5 rings on it that my brother has been looking at for many years, but it was only today that he read an inscription on one of the rings which gave my brothers address where Tolkien was living when he was accepted by Oxford University in 1911

How cool is that? Is he going to set up a mini museum? Can I come visit? :)

I recall being at a funeral in Oxford years ago. After the interment I glanced at the grave beside which I'd been standing and it was that of Tolkien. I gave him a quiet nod of respect before I left.

I think thats pretty cool, I was always glad he came from round Birmingham, the brummies have produced some pretty good people you know! I have always loved the Tolkien books, he was a great writer, thinker, scholar moralist, all round an important literary figure of the 20th century. Nice one U.K., Keep us posted on any developments!
