OK.
This is really dumb but I don't know how to change a lightbulb.
Can someone from the UK please explain this "bayonet" phenomenon?
I've seen how to install the damn things but I've got to take one out now and I'm afraid I'll break it in the fixture. Do I push up then turn? Pull? Turn first? Unlatch the bayonet thingies first?

I turned it off. I don't know about power out here but I'm under the impression it is more dangerous.

This could end up being a new euphemism.

I don't turn off at the mains, but I do make sure the light switch is OFF...those darned bulbs heat up really quickly. :sneaky:
I've been caught out lately by 'screw in ' bulbs....seems they're becoming more popular and I've ended up with several that don't fit my fittings.....that'll teach me to read the box OR look at the picture on the outside.
