Why is it, when I put the garbage bin and recycling bin over on our lawn on garbage day, they collectors INSIST on placing them right in the middle of the driveway when emptied..so when we get home from work, we have to get out of the car and move them before we can pull in??:-5

Do you have those automatic things on the trucks? They might be trying to

tell you to place the bins better... "at" the curb and all.

If you get a flyer from the garbage service (we do) take a look at it and

see if they say anything about bin placement. They might not want

to take the time to put them back where you had them.

I try to keep a really good "relationship" with our collectors, I'm so

happy they do that job!!

Oh, they are worse here. We put them exactly where indicated, and they usually throw them on the yard or half-way in the street. I usually get home first in the neighborhood, and take my neighbor's cans out of "harm's way" so they can park and get out.

Yes Valerie..we have been told to place them at the edge of the lawn or drive....facing out. For the auto thing. Which is what I do. The only no no is putting them right on the street. We do not have sidewalks or curbs...lawns go right to the edge of the road.

Yeah, it is one of the strange things about the East. Our yard goes to the road, why is there not curbs and sidewalks? When they built a new elementary school across the street 3 years ago, I told my husband, "They will put sidewalks through the front of the property for the kids to go to school." He said they wouldn't. He was right! The kids have to walk in the street, it is horrible!

In our case, I think it is because we are in a mobile home park. The school bus stop is at the entry to the park.

You may want to consider taping a big note on the bins stating the problem.

And request that they place the empty bins on the side of the driveway!

(If that doesn't work, well then it's all out war! :D )

Same system here. Mostly our garbos are great blokes and shout out g'day as they bang the bins around with the automatic lifts.

well.... it guarantees that you won't forget them on the lawn for a day or two, don't it.
