What is something unusual, odd, funny, terrible that's happened where you live?

One incident where I live (I live in a rural area of a desert resort town) was when one of my neighbors showed up on America's Most Wanted, the tv show. He had been wanted for murder. The guy was living just about three acres over from me!

A sad thing that happened was back in the late 70s, early 80s. Two boys were burned presumably alive in an old abandoned shed by where my husband lived, My husband, a kid then, was walking to school and saw a weird man barring the door to the shed. When Ralph came back home, the cops and fire department were all there and the boys had been found inside. They were my husband's friends. They think the kids knew something they shouldn't have but it was never solved. The case runs on Unsolved Mysteries now and then.

Just down the road from me a few years back, our neighbor, a fireman, allegedly committed suicide in his home. The door was ajar, the dog was barking and whining and my neighbor was found inside near a chair with a rifle. We're not sure if you can really shoot yourself in the head with a rifle but the cops say it's possible. We think it has something to do with antagonism on the board of the fire department. We know our neighbor would not have abandoned his dog, he wasn't suicidal and had even been making plans to redmodel his home. The cops swept it under the rug and nothing more's been said since.

I live near a mortuary. It used to be a KIngdom Hall (Jehovah's Witness temple) and they remodeled it into a crematorium. Nasty! Anyway, they left their *oven* and big flue pipe laying in the driveway for about three months. There's something unnerving about seeing a cremation kiln in your neighborhood. I was walking home one day and stumbled on something. I thought it was a rock. I bent down and picked up a piece of backbone. It wasn't big enough for anything but a baby or an animal but the fact that it was found in front of the mortuary was not lost on me.

What are your stories?? :)

Well the only unusual thing I can think of from our neighbourhood was many years ago, when and old lady living on here own died, and from then on me and my friends were sure that the place was haunted by her spirit, as we kept hearing noises and seeing really strange things coming from that house. Funnily enough that house wasn't sold for a long time!

The only unusual event I can think of on my block was when the guy 2 houses down was busted for child pornography. We always knew there was something off bout the guy. But one morning I went out to start my car and look down the street and see dozens of cop cars, and men in yellow jackets was startling to see. Rant to tell hubby, and blinded the neighborhood going out on the porch in just underwear to see what was going on. :-2

A couple of years ago my neighbors across the street were emptying their septic tanks on each other's property. We pulled up lawn chair.......popped a couple of beers..........waited for the police to want to get close enough to sort out the problem.

Nothing out of the ordinary where I live....yet. I've only been here 12 days. But the other neighborhood, much crazy stuff. There were motorhomes parked on the entire street that people lived in.

We had only lived in this area around 2 weeks when I went to go out front of the apartment with the kids to wait for the school bus. I darn near had a heart attack when I saw police and police dogs every where. Here they were raiding the bar across the street. Thank God we haven't had that much excitement in the last 10 years!
