IRAQ'S rapidly swelling insurgents number 200,000 fighters and active supporters now outnumber the United States-led coalition forces.

The number is far higher than the US military has admitted so far and it paints a grimmer picture of the challenge facing the Iraqi authorities and their American and British backers as elections loom in Iraq in four weeks.

Erm, did you miss capt buzzard's reference to the times ()? You didn't read the article, which mentions "General Muhammad Abdullah Shahwani, director of Iraq’s new intelligence services" as their source?

Respectfully Bill, give me a break. The English newspapers are well known for the use of inaccuracies in the pushing of their political viewpoints so using the Times as a reference is using no reference at all. One General who gains power by showing how strong his opponents are? yeah there's a good source. Or maybe a good excuse for his failure.

Europeans are intent on making hating the US an Olympic sport. And the truth is it's just about time they get to know just how fed up many in the US, including me, are with this nonsence. Ireland for gods sake is a land where Christian churchs are still fueding because they who worship a forgiving god cannot forgive wars that took place hundereds of years ago.

Europe is a continent where nationalism is rampant, skinhead and other racist movements outstrip anything in the US, government corruption is not only common but hidden and accepted as the norm.

The only thing Europeans won't complain about from the US is money.

I've never met a European who would turn down a dollar bill no matter how much they claim to hate the U.S.

No matter how misguided our reaons for going into Iraq we will bring about the outcome we want.

If there are 200,000 insurgents in Iraq, they're hiding real well. 200,000 men should be able to put up more of a fight than to just blow up a few bombs from ambush
