I've just noticed that Arnold has no avatar and that it says "posts n/a" under his name. Please don't say that he has left too! Or is it some sort of glitch?

It might be sensible to assume there are no glitches each time this happens. People sometimes decide they have to break out of a cyclical pattern and that handing over the key is the only way to impose the decision on themselves. I sympathise with his choice if that's what happened. I can't see Arnold having cut off his nose to spite his face, he's far more considerate. If he's been fighting to free up valuable time while putting in far too many hours at work then breaking away from here makes a lot of sense.

This makes the fourth such decision since Christmas, one of which has been sort of reversed. I suspect several other posters are taking time away at the new year without asking to be locked out of their own account like this. That's the route I took when I had other pressing commitments and it allowed me to resume here several months later. I'd not argue one way or the other when it comes to individual cases.
