K, I have a PC that I used to use all the time. One day when I was turning it on, it went into that weird screen...maybe a diagnostic screen? Anyway, somehow the command for the fan was switched to "off" and now I can't get the computer to power up. Is there a way to manually turn that back on?

Ok. I've never heard of such a thing. Unless someone got into your bios. No power at all or it just won't boot Windows? If the second, what kind of computer is it?

No, when I hit the power button on the tower, it beeps like it's getting ready to turn on, then it beeps a series of times and shuts back off. By bios do you mean the screen that looks sort of like DOS?
<---NOT good with this sort of thing.
Is there a manual button inside the tower to turn the fan back on?

oiy that is a heck of a frightening position to be in.... has this computer always been left running????
As far as I know there is no reset button on your fan, but my real lame idea would be to replace your fan immediately... if you want to try something rather simple pull off the side panel of your computer and get a bottle of compressed air and blow out all the dust. The other thing to try is with your vacume hose put a piece of cloth over the end of the hose turn it on and hold tight to the cloth so it does not get sucked up but rather acts as a filter, and vacume out the inside of the tower. Your puter may be clogged with dust and such... this could cause your fan to stop and in my past experience when my fan stopped I got that kind of screen to.... among others.

See, I thought since I'm the dummy who selected off (It was a mistake, so I should get credit for that right???

) there had to be some way to make it come back on
minks - nope, I usually turned it off every evening cause the noise bugged me in my bedroom at night. This is a bummer, cause that puter is an excellant one. I am gonna try your suggestions though, thanks!
jacksdad - thanks, I've been checking around for prices just in case that's what I had to do.
woverine - :-2
