I was telling my friend yesterday that in some parts of New England mainly in VIctorian times, when the house was paid off, the owners would take the deed and seal it up in the stairs' newel post. She thought that was interesting.



Where I live, we have Christmas Tree Pass and there is a special creosote bush that people come to from all over to decorate with whatever they have on hand. Shoes, beer cans, Christmas garland, tinsel, poker chips.



So what kinds of odd little things do you do for tradition, either in your town or in your own home?

hi redglitter, were you telling your friend you mentioned in your "grass, questions about it" thread? if so tell her hi and hope she's doing better. in regards to something quirky, or unusual, that we do in our pants, ooops parts, one of the neighbors saves their christmas tree (originally a live one) and decorates it with hearts on it and leaves it on another neighbors front lawn for valentines day, that neighbor saves it and decorates it with easter or st. paddy's day (whichever comes first) decorations and leaves it on another neighbors front lawn, that neighbor decorates for the next holiday, and so on and so on, throughout the year. and my parts are in my pants.

That tree idea is cool
