Heres a brief study for you. Everyone has to go through it and theres a piddly little test at the end. No biggy.

An explicit definition of the syntax and semantics of the language. While syntax is commonly specified using a formal grammar, semantic definitions may be written in natural language (e.g., the C language), or a formal semantics (e.g., the Standard ML [1]and Scheme[2] specifications).

A description of the behavior of a translator for the language (e.g., the C++ and Fortran). The syntax and semantics of the language has to be inferred from this description, which may be written in natural or a formal language.

A model implementation, sometimes written in the language being specified (e.g., the Prolog). The syntax and semantics of the language are explicit in the behavior of the model implementation.

Thanks guys for the great welcomes. I have actually started to post a few places on the forum (and got some replies too).

I find it really interesting being able to chat to people in such far away places. I guess Oz is such a little out of the way place....but nice.

Can't wait to get to know more of you all.
