Well, I finished all 5 seasons of this incredible television series. I have never had a piece of TV affect me so much. I am now in mourning for the Fisher family. Not only was it entertaining... it taught me things. It ripped my heart out. It also scared me. Ive been walking around for days, painfully aware of how I am walking towards the end of my life. I am sort of scared, but I also feel kind of liberated. Nate made me realize ( hahaha) that like him, Ive spent so much of my life " Trying to be happy" Trying to do the right thing.

Well blast it all... Ive made it to 55. I pretty much can do whatever I want to, and finally stop thinking that somewhere, someone has a score card, judging me. My life has kind of also been sort of like Ruths......... anyone want to discuss this amazing series?

Dead people are easier to get along with than the "live" ones.

The Fishers werent dead. I thought you also thought alot of this series.

I do like it. I think of dead people when I see the show. Theyre always so calm and composed. I like that.

Weeder, you shouldnt think of 55 as near the end of your life! Its just beginning! 50 is the new 30!!!

Sorry Nomad, I know this is sick, but I feel so bereaved without these people. I actually miss them. I also began to feel quite comfortable with the dead... kind of weird....

Kathy... Originally, I got hooked on the Sopranos. Rented and watched every episode. Then Six Feet Under. I dont like westerns, so I wouldnt get involved with Deadwood. I got sick of the cursing, eating and heartless fornicating in the Sopranos. But Six feet adressed so many issues Ive lived in my life.. that it wasny only entertaining it was very thought provoking for me. I am going to miss it so much.

DG I am having a very difficult time being 55. I just cant believe I am. It really has gone by so fast.... and I want to love someone who has life in them, which hasnt seemed possible lately.

Lucky you...to have seen it all "in a piece," so to speak! I thought the acting and the story lines were just superb, although it seemed to founder for a couple of years. Michael J. Hall and Rachel Griffiths were just perfect in their roles and I loved the final episode!

It was great seeing it all at once. Im ashamed to say there were nights I watched at least 6 episodes. The final episode was incredible. The way they adressed the trials and tribulations of living a homosexual life should have given insight to so many people. The way Nate and Brenda struggled because they did not belong together, should have also. And Ruths anger at being a care taker her whole life spoke volumes... I loved the scene where she blasts all the past lovers with a shot gun. The whole thing really filled me with a sense of calm about many things.

I've never watched that show though it looked interesting alright. I did watch some episodes of the Soprano's (is that still on?) and I the writing on that show at the time I saw it was about as good as any show I've ever seen. Don't know what its like now though.

I loved the moment when Ruth came back from visiting her sister and Claire saw her mother singing and dancing in the kitchen, not knowing Claire was there....she sang an old song from the 60s. It was touching, knowing she was remembering the girl she'd once been.

I loved that for me, as a woman struggling with trying to feel comfortable, getting older.... I found Ruth to be quite beautiful. She often had expressions on her face like a child. And she dispeled the myth that women over a certain age were no longer interested in sex. She was just not interested in it being a one sided thing. She was still a romantic, and always

dissapointed when the romance was gone. Claires coming of age and glimpsing how fleeting moments of adulation are was so... realistic. Her drug experimentation made mw so nervous for her and I was so happy she seemed to outgrow it.

Claire's character was one of the most interesting because she had the chance to grow and mature as we watched. But then, so did David's. As he grew more comfortable with being "out" he changed.

The idea of the dead conversing with the living was genius, IMHO, as were some of the conversations Nate and David had with their father.

Just as a side note...the outdoor cemetary scenes were filmed just a few minutes from my house. Not that it means anything other than the little cemetary made some good money from it!

I cant believe you live there! My new obsession is California. I visited San Diego 12 years ago.. I was actually offered a job there that I turned down. Id love to see LA. I have always been really frightened at the prospect of earth quakes. I didnt like the side of David that was always interested in casual sex. But I tried to remember, why should he be any different than a young evolving hetero sexual person. He matured beautifully. I agree the living conversing with the dead was brilliant. I couldnt ever exactly get a handle on the dads personality though. The way he spoke to both sons. Was it tough love? Or were we seeing their interpertation of their dad? That little cemetary was beautiful. The place where Sarah lived also seemed quite lovely. Kathy Bates played a really good role also.

The best show HBO has produced excellent I watched every eposide for all the years it was on...

I loved "the sister's" house, too! It had the "look" of a real house, didn't it?
