When I was single I spent about £25 - £30 a week but that is a while ago now and I used to go to mum and dad's for a proper meal at the weekends!
I'd come back loaded down with 'treats' from mum:)

If you just add up the food I probably spend about £35 per week (£5 per day) It's the other stuff like toilet rolls and cleaning materials that add up although they're not a weekly spend.
I must have saved a good £32 a week by quitting smoking.!!!...that'll be £1638.00 by the end of the year......good incentive....actually, if i really DO save that amount, I can have a new bathroom fitted when I eventually get in my new flat.

I've only got a microwave and a grill thingy Bill, so I'm a bit restricted for cooking. I eat at work midday....had steak and kidney pie and cauliflower today....cost £2.20.
I sometimes buy those ready cooked chickens in Tescos (£3.20) and then have them with salad or steamed veg.
It's hard to be an inspired cook when you're on your own. My eldest son is cooking Chicken Fajitas on Friday night, so i'm going there for dinner.

When I'm a UK single person (4 days a week) I get through about £10 - £15 on my shopping bill (food and cleaningstuff - the alcohol bill is separate and undefined).

Its OK BIll. I'm in rented property so this is only temporary. I'm in the process of buying somehwere ....a place where I'm going to put in a new kitchen which inludes a spangly new oven and hob...by March, I should be fully functional re. cooking PROPER food.
Thanks for the info though.

Cook for 5 and freeze 4
Easy, quick and filling meals - If a meal costs much more than £1 then I'm splashing out.

Gas hob. Electric oven. Get an oven with a door that opens like a real door,
not like a flippin' letterbox. I've got one of those ossd, and I barked my shins
on it not a moment ago!
