If these two people did something in private, shouldn't it remain private? All this post tells me is that you were privy to a secret that will remain a mistery to the rest of us. In my experience, when people perform acts of kindess in private most of the time they do this from the kindess of their hearts and don't expect accalaids. This topic is very confusing to me.

Jason, compliments should be passed on. They certainly didn't ask for public accolades and what they did is, in fact, still private.

Good point Jason. Several of us thought the same thing.

When someone confides in a friend there is an obligation of confidence that one must adhere to. If these two people shared this information as private then they have entrusted those who they thought they could trust not to blurt it out on a very active web board. I didn't understand the title to begin with and after reading the first post it was like saying... the poster knows something that we don't. That's all it really accomplished in my opinion. I can't help but think that other people, especially those who are close to the two people who unselfishly gave in some way, might feel out of the loop or left out if the secret wasn't shared with them. I guess we need to be careful who we trust our secrets with.

So, now the burden is on Tombstone. He gets the inquiries and then has to decide who needs to know and who doesn't. Is this really fair to the him or the entire board group?

Either the entire story should be made public or this thread should be deleted or edited. I don't understand the reason for a topic to be posted where there is a secret. The first poster made this huge announcement with a plea of Please! So, everyone comes rushing in only to find out that no one except them knows what the hell is going on.

Intended only for the persons immediately concerned; confidential:

Personal and not publicly expressed: one's private feelings.

removed from or out of public view or knowledge; secret:

Not open or accessible to the general public:

It doesn't matter what they did they're all lovely people and they're always lovely people and they deserve a random hug just because!

Dude, you're WAY overcomplicating this. Take this scenario. I need help & make a small plea, maybe hidden in one of the large threads like the Anything Random thread, or maybe in a private message. You get wind of it and quietly come to my rescue, maybe even in an anonymous way. I have such overwhelming gratitude that, while I understand your help was in no way to show off what a great guy you are, I just have to make a public thank you. Almost everybody already knows what a great guy you are (in this scenario), and those that don't, should.



It's simple: a huge thank you to a small ego, whose help is profoundly appreciated. That's all.

Jason, I see you've made 25 posts in 7 months. Assuming you've lurked just a bit, I wonder why on earth you'd dredge up this post and make a fuss about something and some folks you don't know. In fact, I'd wonder why ANYONE would question either the sentiment or the motives.

Kindly read what Accountable has said and take my post in the precise sense in which it was written--a sincere thank you to two wonderful women who quietly did an enormous favor for someone else.

They didn't do it for me...they did it for someone else. Your dragging it out and putting a negative slant on this compliment doesn't say much that's positive about a "new" poster, does it?

Think about that & we'll get on with things.

It obviuosley was kekpt private because it is NON OF YOUR BUSINESS. The fact that she just wanted to send out a thank-you is no cause for concern for any other members. Ive doled out public "thank you's" without getting into the matter publicly. If we all just minded our own business we wouldnt have to worry about these private matters. Its just a shame we have to complicate something that isnt complicated.

I just want to let everyone know that Jason did a really kind thing this morning. Something he didn't have to do and it was a wonderful gesture. Thank you, Jason.
