I do not mean to insult anyone here, but I am more than fedup with Jehovah's Witnesses. We've been in our new house ten months. Every two months, like clock work, my doorbell rings, and there they stand, with fake smiles. I've informed them over and over that we're members of another faith, and are not interested. The last time, I let it be known I will call the police if they come back. :yh_tongue

Yesterday morning, they came back. I let them know I'm beyond aggravated with them, and told them to leave, adding the request for them to wipe my soil off their shoes when they left my property.

What does it take to get through to them?:-5 I've a sticker of our faith on the front door, and I know they see and recognize it for what it is. The worst part of their bi-monthly visits is they wake up DH, who works nights.

I should booby-trap the doorbell. :sneaky: Or at the very least, put up a sign warning them away.

Next time answer the door butt-ass naked. I bet they dont come back.

Next time ask them to come in - you could do with someone to hold the tether of the goat that you're about to sacrifice!!

They MUST go out witnessing in order to be in good standing with their order. It is required. I know for a fact that many of them would rather not. It is very rude, and it is an invasion of privacy. But they truly feel that they can brush these things aside, in order to save you, before it is too late. DONT ANSWER THE DOOR WHEN YOU SEE THEM. Insulting them not only is mean.... it wont do you one bit of good. They will just look at you with glazed eyes and smile their secret little smile.

One time they opened my door and put their propaganda in my house.

Another time - the final time, they kicked my dog. That's why it was the final time. My friend used to answer the door holding an American flag. He'd say"You salute my flag and I'll read your pamphlet." Of course that's like garlic to a vampire as they do not honor the flag and they would take off quick.

It's been my experience that it's Witnesses and Christians in general who shove their "Word" onto others. I've never been accosted by a Muslim, Jew, Krishna, etc, etc. Only these two and it deeply offends me.

If you put a pagan or other "alternative" religion sticker on your door, they will see that as a challenge and keep coming back.

JUST DON'T ANSWER THE DOOR PERIOD.. EVENTUALLY THEY WILL STOP. Yes they are the only religion that goes door to door.

They don't take no for an answer and it truly is an invasion of your privacy and it is trespassing. You can get a no trespassins sign, no soliciting sign. There are laws and they can be reported to the police. GOOD LUCK..:-5

I just got off the phone with the police. They suggested I send the two congregations (so I'll be sure to cover them both) a registered letter, stating my beliefs, and informing them the next visit will be met with a trepassing charge, and the possibility of a harassment lawsuit.

I'm in the middle of writing my letter right now. What gives me an added edge, is the fact that one of the two gentlemen who drop by is a repeat offender, that he knows, and has known from the start, my wishes on this matter.

There was one visit where a woman and two teen girls showed up. The woman hid behind a large shrub at the base of our drive, and watched the girls at my door. :rolleyes: We dug it up that weekend. (It was a shrub that we'd planned on getting rid of anyhow.)

This is the stupidest thing, I grant ya. But, they don't just ring the doorbell once, and wait. They lean on it, waking DH, and driving the dogs into a frenzy.

I know they have to witness, (I've studied a bit on their faith, and others, so I'm not blind in the dark here), but they have to respect my faith, and my requests to be left in peace.

What does it take to get through to them?


Just one phone call to their Jehovah's Witnesses Hall and ask who's in charge. Speak to them and tell them to remove your address from their scheduled stop because you don't appreciate them trespassing on your private property. I did just that and they have never returned!

You know, for whatever reason, I've only ever had them stop at my house once years ago when I was in high school. There aren't many around here, I suppose, although I did go to school with a couple. Hope it all works out for you, cause that's extremely rude.

I have to admit my "absolutely no solicting" sign on my front door has worked for 3 years now.

Or maybe it's "fang" my frothy mouth dog who comes at the window like Cujo when they approach the walk hmmmmmm I have to think about this now.

the thing is guys at the age of 11 , i was dragged round on her rounds by my gran a devout jw , i really hated it really really hated it , but these people really believe they are saving you end of , when they come round i try to be really nice to them ,the best way to get rid of them , say you need a hand cleaning the tiolet you have had the trots , that does it

It's been YEARS since they've visited me, and I had to get "ugly" with them. They were certain they could change my mind about my belief.

They were basically insulting my choice of belief, don't remember how it all ended, but just glad it did!!!

I still think you should answer the door naked. And if you really want to scare them off I have the name of a guy over there you can call to do it for you. He is a real ugly person. His name is Gill Spikes.

FWIW, I've had JWs, Mormons, and Evangelical octogenarian ladies at my door. I'm pretty brusque (but not rude) with them, and they seem to get the message. I am pleasant to the old dears, though. They're rather charming.

JWs are a big story in Canada at the moment. I'm not bashing them, but I thought the story was pertinent :

The Vancouver parents of sextuplets born in January are now in a legal battle with the province, claiming the government violated their religious rights when social workers seized three of their newborns to give them blood transfusions.

The parents, both Jehovah's Witnesses, argue the province had no right to step in against their wishes to take temporary custody of three of their four surviving sextuplets.

Through out the years my family and I have had a long standing feud with these optical rectitus cult members .

As soon as you see them,call the cops,if you think it my take awhile,keep them chatting until the cops come.Then press charges as soon as they show.AND FOLLOW THROUGH.

They took my aunt,and she was never the same again.

My uncle (my aunts brother) hit one with a snow shovel once.

I personally sprayed one with a hose,so it looked like he pi$$ed himself,nice old guy with two young girls.

Before that my Friends and I caught some walking around a nice neighborhood once and we stopped and slapped the driver around, threw his keys in the gutter,when the rest of the cult came back we beat them,as the two woman watched.And then told them never too come around here no more.All this in front two homes with the home owners watching and smiling.

You have right too defend your home and yourself against threats,use it.

the last one that came too my home was years ago.

They must be a different mob over there, the ones in the UK just try to chat,

and give you a leaflet to read.

BTW, it sounds as if the "nice neighbourhood" you were in was in fact a lawless

WRT blood transfusions, the state certainly does have the power, as I think it

ought. I'd assume that, in Canada, they'll be given short shrift. The implications

of anything else are not good.

Let's see...

My husband works nights. That means he gets home about six in the morning, sometimes seven. His job requires him to be diligent for ten hours. He needs all the sleep he can get, as hundreds, possibly thousands of lives depend on his being alert.

From eight to ten in the morning is the typical time JW's show up. They don't just ring the doorbell, they lean on it, making you think there is an emergency. This drives the dogs into a barking frenzy.

Due to an incident in my past, I'm very particular about just anyone popping up at my door.

Now, then. What should we do?

Keep my DH up, so his job suffers, and put many lives in jeopardy?

Devocalize the dogs, so they can't bark, and let me know something is amiss?

Blithely invite any person that rings my doorbell into my home, not worrying about their background?

Or, ensure DH gets all the rest he needs, defend my right to worship the way we choose, the right to privacy in our home, and the joy of knowing we didn't subject our pets to a cruel and inhumane treatment?

explained above. They might be impressed enough to leave you alone. They

are people, after all! You never know. I once tried to chat up a Moonie, she

was very attractive. My efforts came to nothing, though, unfortunately.

Anyway, that's rather off-topic. You might ask them to push a copy of

"Watchtower" or whatever through the door, so that you can read it

(there's even some interesting stuff in it sometimes - this is what the

Witnesses who call here do - it seems to satisfy them!). You can always

try "strong-arm" tactics another time.

As to why you are bothering to explain to me, I should hope it's because

you think it worthwhile - although, I suppose, you might be trying to make

a cheap "point". Not that I think you are, you know - but you could be. I

wonder which it is.

Lord above. I've no idea what's got under your skin (unless you're a sock, or

associated with someone with a chip on their shoulder), but I can tell you that

I was only trying to be helpful. If you really feel like that, for some reason, to

Ciao, before you get an unpleasant notion of Bill, let me remind you that words don't always come across on here the way they do when you are speaking to someone. When I was new on here, I too thought Bill had insulted me a couple times or didn't care for me too well. I have since learned to understand the way he "speaks" on here. He's a nice guy. He has a dry sense of humor and sometimes people can take that wrong. I have one too so I know. While there will be people here you don't care for, since you are new here, I urge you to not use the Ignore Button and just get used to Bill and the rest of us. He meant you no harm.

I used to argue with them but since we've moved into a condo they never get past the front door. No one here wants to see them and they have been so told.

My son solved the problem. The last time they called he said they were just about to enjoy a joint and they were welcome to come in have one as well. They disappeared in a hurry.

I've thought of saying that I was Jewish and how dare they try to tell me how to interpret my book. Now I don't get the chance.

I had a friend who was a Witness and when she found I led a pagan lifestyle, she was all over me to change. I wasn't allowed to tell her about my ways but she was allowed to tell me about hers. I didn't care what she practiced, but I think that there in is what we're all saying, isn't it?? We just want to be left alone and not troubled in a private area of our lives.

That's my point. JW's think we should listen to their story, but they can't extend the same courtesy to us. I'm a rather cautious person, tending to study people and such before getting involved. I never entertained the idea of joining the JW's, but I've read up on them. There are several groups of former JW's, and their stories are riveting.

I have even heard of them helping out with rebuilding things when there have been natural disasters.

Supplying clothes & food,not just to their congregation but to others as well.

As for the pagan bit, at Halloween, I made a set of five ghosts, and suspended them from a tree in the yard. They looked so cool in the wind! That was when the older woman and two teen girls appeared at my door.
