This is called an irrational fear dear girl.
And the best way to conquer (sorry spelling sucks) this is to go to therapy for it or try helping yourself buy totally understanding spiders and what it is that makes you fear them and what actual threat they pose or do not pose.
Sounds complex yes, But what it is is you have to see them rationally and understand them and know that you can easily step on them before they get you.
HOWEVER!!!!
if your living where they spiders are gargantuan and poison then defend your home indeed.

I HATE spiders too. I was bit once, and was supposed to go to the hospital but refused. I was bit a second time and went. I have a scar from it that is worse than scars from some surgeries. I hear hedge apples aka monkyballs are supposed to repel them. I'll let you know as soon as I find some.

I am horribly, severely, INSANELY afraid of spiders!!!!! YUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hate them all. When I was about 7, I was at my grandparents house in the country. I spent summers there and had this big beautiful room upstairs that I loved. One morning I woke up and found, to my utter horror, a large wolf spider dangling from the ceiling about and inch and a half from my nose. Now, I'm sure my memory of this even has enlarged the spider in my mind...However, I do recall being able to see all 8 of it's eyes. It was the most hideous thing I'd ever seen, and have been "irrationally" and deathly afraid of them since. Did you know that the venom in a Daddy Long-legs is deadly enough to kill a grown man, but that their jaws are so small they cannot bite a person? That is just freaky and WRONG! Anything with 8 eyes and 8 legs is just freaky and WRONG!!! Paula, I'm with you!
Another weird fact about spiders: Certain types of Tarantulas will shatter like glass if you drop them onto a hard surface.

Some of them are quite beautiful if you take time to look at them. Some have such color! Irridescent blues and greens. I guess I'm not afraid of them since I know I can squish them if I need to. I was bitten by a large black one as a child when I thought I was picking up a cricket. I was very fond of bugs and frogs and the like as a child.

Best way to get rid of spiders is to poke a couple of holes in chestnuts and leave them on windowsills around the house. It really works. Good luck finding the chestnuts.

I've been scared of spiders since I was 9 and said to mum "There's something in my shoe"
"Take it off then and get it out"
I sat on the bottom step, took the shoe off, shook it. The spider went one way, the shoe the other and I ran up the stairs screaming. :wah:

I know a chap who saw a spider in his shed... he chased it across the bench with a blowtorch - it went into a drawer. The drawer contained some inflammable things. The whole lot caught fire really *rather* quickly, and it burned out, destroying his T110 chopper and Kawasaki 750 LTD (good job in the last case).

Note to self: Don't kill spiders with a blow torch.

I had to stay up around the clock and take care of him. Or else he would have died. No-joke. I don't want to scare you even more. I am just simply saying that Knowledge is power. And knowing more about which spiders can do what, may help to conquer your fear. Pretty much what was said before. You may be surprised to find out that they are not all that scary after all. Very funny looking things. But not scary.

I to was bitten by a brown recluse spider while asleep, and didn't know it at the time. When I woke, I saw a red bite lump on my forearm, did not pay to much attention to it. (Thought is was mosquito bite) Went to work, luckily I had a short sleeve shirt on, because one of my fellow workers said hey what's that red line going up your arm? I looked and sure enough out from the red lump a red line was going up my arm. I went to the company nurse, and she sent me to the hospital. There, they cleaned out the bite, (boy did it hurt) and gave me a shot of hemogloblin? They then told me I was bitten by a brown recluse spider. I don't like spiders either! :wah:
(Oh ya, they sent me home to rest for the remainder of the day)
Cars :driving:

Tell that to the people who have been bitten by brown recluse spiders. Of course, a whole bunch of those people are dead, so it would be a bit difficult.
If you were referring to your own spiders specifically, then perhaps some punctuation is in order. That's not a jab, just a suggestion!

I am more accepting of the spiders, when i first moved here i slept with my sneakers on? That is another reason why i married my husband, the house i lived in had spiders there too? I don't miss one at all. I have cans of spray ready at all times. No shrubs or plants around the foundation..i fight hard to keep them out!
