Just saw another thread here about birthday parties for children, and my own memory was triggered. My daughter was about six and "Mrs Tariki" and myself were trying to decide exactly what sandwiches to make. We decided to ask our daughter herself, as she had recently been to one or two parties.
"Well, at Kate's party we had chicken paste sandwiches" she said.
So chicken paste it was, as well as the old standbyes ham and cheese.
After the party all the ham and cheese had gone, but nearly all of the chicken paste remained on the plate, already curling up at the edges.
"Well. no one seemed to want the chicken paste" we said.
"No" replied out daughter, "No one ate them at Kate's party either!"
